Stringie's Song!

Tonight's pun song from Greg is to the tune of Mary had a little lamb!

Leo had a piece of string, piece of string, piece of string
Leo had a piece of string, it was his favorite toy
Everywhere that Leo slept, Leo slept, Leo slept,
Everywhere that Leo slept, the string was sure to be

He tried to tie up Star with it, Star with it, Star with it
He tried to tie up Star with it, just like a real bad boy
She tied his string in knots so fast, knots so fast, knots so fast
She tied his string in knots so fast, her paws her hard to see

Star carried his string away, string away, string away
Star carried his string away, and said "this belongs to me"
Leo got another string, another string, another string
Leo got another string, and hid this one away!

And then, being the punny guy he is, Greg said, "Sounds like a knotty girl and naughty boy to me." hee hee!

Speaking of sleeping with stringies! Here's my boy in his usual sleeping spot.

Oh, more Leo sleeping with this stringie? Wait, look closer... That's not Leo! That's Star sleeping with the stringie! How did that happen?? No idea, but it's just as cute, isn't it?

Boy can you see a difference in our phone cameras... The pictures of Leo are on my phone during the day with the lights on. The pictures of Star are on Greg's phone at night with the lights on. I seriously need some sleeping with the stringie pictures on the regular camera, I bet they'd turn out a lot better!

Two Gray Cats

Three Blind Mice wouldn't last too long around here, I think.. So we're going with Two Gray Cats!

Two gray cats, two gray cats
See how they run, see how they run
They both ran over the mechanic's wife
Their claws left scratches that scar for life
I've never seen anything run so fast
As two gray cats

Yup, these are old pictures. You can tell because it was summer and the door was open!

More Pun!

Two verses of How Much Is That Doggie In The Window, one for each of my kitties!

Look out for that kitty in the window
The one with the feathery tail
Look out for that kitty in the window
For Leo is one ornery male!

Watch out for that kitty in the sunbeam
Even though she doesn't look so mean
Watch out for that kitty in the sunbeam
Star pounces too fast to be seen!

Here's my boy in the window. I just love how he's just a silhouette in that sunshine!
Orson who?

The sun warms my back, but do we have to have these silly curtains?

Look! You can see his slight overbite! Isn't it cute?

And here's Star playing with daddy's chair in a sunbeam! I only got the one shot because she was in a wild mood and took off on one of her running sprees after I snapped this one!
I've got you now, chair! You're not getting away from me! Bwhahaha!

Blogger is working again! Whoo hoo, no more jumping through hoops to post pictures!

I have to tell you what happened earlier tonight! No pictures, but oh my gosh, just picture it!

Leo jumped on the Royal Footstool, but the red blanket/quilt was all bunched up, not good to lay on. So I started trying to straighten it for him and he started digging at it. When he digs at the sheets on the bed, I know he wants to go under. He likes sleeping under the sheet. Or playing with his toys that are above him on top of the sheet, silly boy. So I asked him, do you seriously want under here? And I put it over him, thinking he'd run out immediately. After all, it's gotta be hot under there and not as easy to breath as under a sheet!

But he stayed! Ok, if you want to be there, fine with me. I lifted up an edge so he could get some air, and have a quick bolt hole if he wanted out. He got comfy and settled in like he was going to nap.

Star, who I swear had been watching the whole thing, even though she was in the middle of a bath, suddenly decided to jump on the Royal Footstool! Uh oh, I thought, she's going to whap at him through the blanket! But she acted like she didn't know he was there! She sniffed at the lump, but it must be too thick for her to know he was there!

So she settled in and continued her nap. I figured that Leo had to know she was there, even if she didn't, so I reached under and pet him in case he was nervous. He leaned into my hand and let me scritch his chin. When Star was turned to lick her back, I folded back the blanket so he could see her, he sniffed and backed up a half an inch, so I put the blanket back. Star turned back around and was like "huh?" I had to giggle!

I think she might have got the idea that he was there after a bit, but she didn't do anything about it. Eventually Leo dived out and went to sit on his cat tree. The whole thing was funny and cute! Hopefully they'll keep getting close like that, and maybe next time, Star will know it's happening!

Pun Fun

Oh boy oh boy! We are going to have such a PUN filled week!! Greg, who is the punniest guy I know, liked my song on Saturday. Since then, he hasn’t been able to stop giving me more punny songs! There may be enough for more than a week of pun, but I’m gonna try to limit it a little!

Today I will give you two. They’re short. Well, all of them are kinda short so far, though he is working on a longer one. The first one is to the tune of Twinkle twinkle little star.

Tinkle tinkle, put a bell on Star
Let me know just where you are
With your claws and teeth so fierce
Easy for my skin to pierce
Tinkle tinkle bell on Star
I need to know just where you are

The next one is more a nursery rhyme than a song, but it works! I’d say it’s to the tune of Jack and Jill, but there’s not really a tune for a nursery rhyme!

Leo and Star ran up the stairs
and fought over a glass of water.
Dad came up and Leo ran down,
with Star thundering after.

I want to give a shout out to Spitty’s human for being the only one (that said it) to know that the first song was to Peter, Paul and Mary’s song Stewball! I should have said what tune that was then, sorry! The second one, easier to tell, was to the tune of Jim Croce’s Bad Bad Leroy Brown.

I also should have said, or reminded those who’ve read it here before, that the glass Leo is seen drinking out of is Star’s own personal glass in the upstairs bathroom. Greg says that it’s spoiling her to give her that glass, and refilling it two or three times if she rejects it for some reason, but I say she’s a princess, so she gets what she wants!

Would I leave you without pictures of the kitties? Never! (Ok, occasionally, but not often!)

Recall the time Leo was under the Royal Footstool and Star was on top of it
in THIS POST?

Well it happened again, but the other way around! You will note that there is yet another blanket on the Royal Footstool now, a red fuzzy one. I have given over the butterfly blanket to Star and it sits, neatly folded by her daddy (who's spoiling her now!) on The Chair, where she likes to nap during the day.

Here we have Star under, and Leo on top. He knew she was there and kept trying to find a way to sneak over the edge and poke her in the bum. But she also knew he was up there, and did not give him a shot at the poke!

Leo: It's my turn! I's gonna poke her in the butt under there!

Star: Yeah, like I wouldn't see THAT coming..

Star: I know you're creeping around up there. And the second I see you, the claws will be out.

Leo: Maybe I'll just... skip the whole thing.. Bye!

Theme Songs

Yes, I'm tired. Yes, this is silly. But still, I'm gonna post it!
With apologies to Peter Paul and Mary and Jim Croce.

Oh Leo is a goofball, and I’m glad he is mine
He never drinks water, unless it is Star’s!
His fur is all silver, His paws hold extra nails
But nothing can ever beat his feathery tail

Bad bad, little gray Star,
Baddest cat in the whole darn house
Badder than Slash La’Roo
Meaner than any ol’ dog!

Cold War, Truce, or Play?

Star has a new habit. Greg says it’s me spoiling her, but I say it’s working. I have a bag of treats upstairs and when we go to bed Star now knows to come up and get on the bed with us. This is something she has not done since Leo showed up unless he’s been locked out of upstairs and she is locked in.

We stopped using the gate at night and there really haven’t been any fights. Chases, yes, fights, not so much. Ok, a few, but not bad ones.

Anyway, so she comes up and climbs into the bed. Sometimes Leo’s already there, sometimes he’s not. But she doesn’t care, she wants her treats, so she stays.

Leo sits and watches her get her snack. I always offer him some. He always perks up his ears and sniffs like mad, then looks at me like I gave him underwear for Christmas. The boy hates treats!

So Star has her treats, makes sure there aren’t any more forthcoming, then she jumps down to leave. And this is where it gets odd. Leo, who defers to Star while she eats, who leaves when left alone in a room with her, suddenly springs into action!

He races to the edge of the bed with his tail straight up and reaches down to poke Star in the butt as she leaves! It’s like he’s never heard that song:

"You don't tug on Superman's cape,
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off that ol' Lone Ranger
And you don't mess around with Star."

This sometimes sets off a game of chase. She will run down the stairs, sounding like a heard of elephants all by herself. Then he’ll tiptoe down at some point. Suddenly, he comes running back up with her hard on his heels. He leaps onto the bed and dives over the other side. If I’m laying down, he will bounce off of my back..

Star, who anticipates this move, rounds the end of the bed at the same moment he dives over the edge! Of course, this is my side of the bed, and my legs are there, so when Leo dives behind them, Star stops. She turns and walks out with an air of calm as if she’s saying "I was done with him anyway."

I don’t know why he pokes her in the butt. I don’t know why she chases him. I don’t know what happens downstairs in between these events.. But no one hisses. No one grumbles. No one scratches or bites. It’s all very... dare I say it? Playful? Oh please let it be playful!

This is how Leo watches the door and waits for Star to show up for her treat.
I know she's coming soon.

Good thing she always announces herself, 'cause she's too short to see over the edge! hee hee

There was a question yesterday about Spritz, Leo's sister who's awaiting a forever home, and her toes. Yes, she does have extra toes! Aren't they too cute! Extra toes are extra  cute!

Reality!

Our friends over at Pugs and Purrs gave us the Reality Award! Thank you guys! We loves you all!

The rules and instruction for this award are as follows . . .

1) Visit and thank the blogger who nominated you.
2) Acknowledge that blogger on your blog and link back to them.
3) Answer the 5 simple questions. (see below)
4) Nominate up to 20 blogs for the award and notify each of them. (see below)
5) Display the award on your blog somewhere.

1) If you could change one thing, what would you change?

Star: I'd get rid of cold weather.. I much prefer the warms to the colds.

Leo: I'd make daddy shorter so I have more room at the bottom of the bed.

2) If you could repeat an age, what would it be? any year?

Star: Oh, around 3 or 4. By then I’d settled into my home and had the other cats acknowledging that I was the boss.

Leo: Um, I don’t think I’m old enough to wish I was younger.. I mean, when I was little, things weren’t that great until Miss Chrystal saved me. And even then, we were all scared of her for a long time! So I think... now. Now is when everything is great.

3) What is one thing that really scares you?

Star: Scares me? Nothing scares me! Ticks me off maybe, but scare? Na. Ok, I’m not found of the sucky machine, thank cod it doesn’t show up that often!

Leo: Uh.. If I say it, she might smack me.. Heh heh. No really, I’m not as afraid of her as I used to be. Now I’m more afraid of missing snack time!

4)What is one dream you have not completed, and do you think you'll be able to complete it?

Star: Sometimes I dream that the barbarian had never arrived, but somehow I don’t think that’s possible. And he’s too big to stuff in the mail box to send him to Abu Dhabi.

Leo: My dream is for my sisters to get great homes like I have. So far four of them do! But my sweet sister Spritz is still waiting for her home. Know anyone who could give her a wonderful, understanding, perfect home?

5)If you could be someone else for one day, who would it be?

Star: Someone else? How about an only cat? Can I be that? I didn’t think so.. *sigh*

Leo: I’d be like... Supercat! Faster than a speeding cheetah, more powerful than a saber tooth tiger, able to leap tall furniture in a single bound! Fighting for Treats! Toys! And Adoptions for all!

We'd like to pass this on to some bloggers who really inspire us. I know that's not part of the rules, but it's part of the name of the award so that's what we're doing. Those who receive this are in no way obligated to follow our example!

Daily Dose of Dogs AKA Cats With Your Coffee: You know our connection to them by now! Leo came from this rescue and Leo's sister Spritz is still there waiting for her forever home!
Brian's Home: He is tireless is helping kitties! Of course, they do a lot of this on their other site, Forever Home Wanted, but we don't think they do awards there.. But if you do, Brian, then put it on either blog you want!
The Blog of Otis: They are Serious about keeping kitties safe!

And of course, I'm not leaving you without a picture of my babies! Yeah, they're pictures you've seen before.. but I still love them!

Leo

Star (and her favorite butterfly!)

And this is Leo's sister Spritz! Wouldn't you love to help her find a forever home??

Trophy Boy

I know, you think this is another award post, right?

Wrong!

I just happened to see this in my display case and I thought, now there's the only trophy I need! It's my heart kitty, my baby boy, my darling Leo! Just the cutest little guy in the whole universe! (It's ok if you think your guy is, cute is in the eye of the kitty holder!)

I'm sharin' this case with some interestin' fellas.. he don't talk so good though!

Oh, hi mom.. I'm allowed in here, right?

That's what I thought. I's allowed anywhere I want. What mom? Ok, most anywhere I want.

Oh yeah, I've decided that mirror cat is ok after all. He's not near as hissy or scary as ol' Princess Hissyface.. She's where?! Don't scare me like that!

That's my lovey boy, isn't he just the sweetest trophy ever?

Purple Mouse

I don't know why, but all the sudden one day we saw the purple mouse in the water dish! Greg took it out and left it near the bowls.

We wondered who had done it. Star usually prefers little black mice that don't rattle. Purple mouse rattles. Leo likes feathers, but we have occasionally seen him play with mice. Then as soon as the wet mouse was set aside to dry, Leo was on it!

Hey, mousie, you're all wet. Let me knock you around to help dry you!

That piece of junk mail is what I'd just been giving him some nip on.

Even your rattle sounds soggy, dude!

Scoop you up, toss you around!

Oh hi. I was just playin'! Can you blow dry mousie? No, wait. I hate the blow dryer!

I'll just keep scootin' him around!

And giving him the bitey!

That'll work. Right?

All I know is that purple dye better not run and get on my still kinda new carpet!

Still Chilly

Greg thinks it's silly of my to be chilly and leave Star to have the butterfly blanket. I guess when she's that cute, and loves it so much, I just can't disturb her. Am I the only crazy person like this out there?

I see you and that camera..

..but I don't care. zzzzz

*curl*

zzzzzzzzzz

Leo needs a nap too apparently, on the green snuggy. Funny, he doesn't like the butterfly blanket, but he loves the snuggy.
zzzz*curl*zzzzz
