Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you in the US, happy Thankful Thursday to everyone else!

Please indulge me as I use my thanksgiving picture from when Star was with us and before the girls came. I love it! And I haven't had time to make anything new..

We have not posted much lately. Ok, at all. My last post should tell you why. We are still very much worried about my mom. Last time I said she was unconscious; she was unconscious for a full week. She woke up with what they call ICU Syndrome, unable to move her arms or legs, fingers, anything. And she still had the pneumonia. She started therapy right away to get strength back and it looked like it was going to be a quick recovery. Then her pneumonia flared again for a bit. She moved to a step down hospital for more therapy hoping to stay just a little while then move to an intensive rehab facility. Every time it seems like she's ready to move there, something happens. She got sick, very sick. I got sick, I am sure it's the same thing. She stopped eating and stopped trying at therapy. All she wants to do is sleep. this is not helped by a new heart medication that is causing her other issues.
Since she can't move, we are taking turns being there to feed her meals. Of course, like I said, she's not wanting to eat right now.
I know this seems like a very 'down' post, but even in the midst of this, I have lots to be thankful for. We did not lose her! I am so grateful for that! She can recover, I'm so grateful for that! Meds can be changed so she will do more than sleep, and I'll be grateful when the doctors make those changes.
Piper, my mom's pretty kitty, is at my sisters house. Piper is a shy kitty and does not come out for anyone. My sister was used to spending at least one night a week at my moms before all of this and Piper would come out once my sister was sitting down and quiet. She would even sit between her and my mom on the couch.
Once Piper was taken to my sisters house, she was shown her food and litter and then she went straight down to the basement and said, "bye people!" and basically hid from them. But did eat and wander the house when they were sleeping or away. They did not see her however.
Then one day she explored a spare bedroom and no one knew it. The door got closed because that's how it's supposed to be. And Piper stopped coming out for her meals. Uh oh... My sister heard a quiet peep after she'd not been seen for 14 hours. She opened the spare room and Piper ran into the closet. My sister got her out of the closet and out of the room and she ran back to the basement, stopping to eat! A little while later my sister was at her computer and something tapped her leg. Piper peeped at her, probably lecturing her about not closing her in that room any more and hey, give me more food ok? So Sister gave her more food. A little while later Piper tapped her on the leg again. A little more food. And now Piper talks to her and comes out! Apparently she does not like being so alone after all!
The blind Yorkie my sister has, Nala, told Piper she was not allowed on her bed. But there have been no other issues between them. They are not friends, but they are not enemies either. I'm sure both will be happy when Piper gets to go back home with her mommy, my mommy!
If you pray, please pray for my mom and the rest of us! We're all exhausted and we all want mom home! Thank you!!
I had planned on having an auction for Winnie's Wish in November. As you can see, that's probably not gonna happen.. Time is running away fast! But Winnie's Wish still has many needs. They are in the middle of a huge TNR situation and while all the surgeries are taken care of thanks to a gofundme, they didn't anticipate how long each kitty would be with her before surgeries (because of how hard it is to catch them, they cannot count on getting them the day of or even the day before surgery) and after during recovery. This is taking lots of extra litter and food.
Although the great news is that a few of them are getting homes because they are friendly! Yay!!!
But the need for food and litter is still there, for the regular crew and the stop overs. So if you can, during this wonderful season of giving, please think of donating to Winnie's Wish or using their Wish List button and sending something from Amazon! Every little bit helps!
To donate, you can use the donate button on the Daily Dose blog's sidebar. (it's under the section about her books)
To use the Wish List click the banner below:
Sales of the two wonderful books Chrystal wrote also benefit Winnie's Wish! If you haven't bought them, do yourself a favor and get them now! One about cat and dog rescue, the other is a children's book on kindness. If you've already got them, consider getting more copies as gifts!
Thank you, everyone, for your patience while we are dealing with my mom's illness, and for everything you have done, and will do, for Winnie's Wish! We love you all, you are the best, kindest, people on the internet!

Piper's Mommy

Piper's mommy, my mom, has been in the hospital all week. She's being kept sedated because she's on a vent. She has horrible pneumonia and something going on with or near her gallbladder. Obviously we have been very worried and at the hospital and out of touch on line for the most part.
They are going to start trying to wean her off of the vent tomorrow. But if it takes more than three days, they are going to talk tracheotomy.
We are worried, we are scared. We love our mommy, Piper, my sister and me.
I guess I'm saying, this is why I'm not posting. But I think you all understand that.
If you pray, please pray for her. Thank you

Piper is being taken care of and may move in with my sister for a while because it's likely mom will go to a step down facility to regain strength before going home. My sister is the only house with no other cats. She has a blind old Yorkie, but Nala won't 'see' the Piper and Piper will be able to easily avoid Nala. Send prayers for this situation too please!

Piper: I don't like missing my mommy. But will someone please tell me what a 'Yorkie' is and why it makes me nervous? Ok, so everything makes me nervous, I still want to know if a 'Yorkie' is a person from New York, or something to eat, or a fluff comforter to lay on!

Caturday Art with Glitter

For today's Caturday Art I picked one of Glitter's pretty sitting pictures from this week. She was so cute, I thought I could art it up a bit and make her even cuter!

First up, Beauty

Flame. Now, lunapic had two flames, I think. This one was under art, not special effects.

Pretty Sitter Glitter

Glitzy Glitter the Pretty Sitter has RBF... How is it that this sweetheart, this cuddly, friendly, darling girlcat can have such a nasty look on her face in pictures yet when you see her in person, you don't notice that? I never see the RBF until I look at the pictures I take of her.

RBF, for those of you who don't know, is Resting Bitch Face.

In other words, she looks mean in pictures.

Take this adorable photo series, for example. She was being so adorable! I had to snap picture after picture, but then I noticed the look on her face. Sigh. It does not convey what a living doll she is, honestly.

Glitter: Hi hi, I'm thinking that it's probably getting on toward snack time, right? What's that? My face? No.. I'm not mad, I'm happily thinking about snackage!

*muttering to self* What is it with people thinking I'm in a bad mood all the time... why I oughta cut someone...

What's that? Hello! That was a joke! Sheesh Here's an innocent look, does this one work for you? Still waiting on that snack, by the way..

What do you mean 'look at you'? I am looking at you. Here's some eye contact! Feel better now? Snack time better?

Goodness, I'm tired of this. Give you the "Ain't I so cute" pose on the arm of the chair and all I get are questions about my expression.. humans..

No, mom, I'm don't looking at you and that flashy box. I already quit the pose and I'm about to quit waiting on a snack from you and go bug daddy. He's easy to manipulate.

Ok ok! Here, I'm looking at you! Happy? Good, cause I am too. Now, where did we end on the snackage subject??

I sympathize, Glitter, I often get told I have RBF too. (Yes, she got her snack)

By the way, it's not because of flash that she makes that face. These were all taken on my cell phone (as if you can't tell by the *quality* of the pictures) and it doesn't have a flash.

My camera was broken and all I have been able to take for quite a while has been cell phone pictures. It was dropped once too many times and the batteries were rattling around in the battery compartment; obviously, I presumed, something broke off in there. I looked and could not see a way to fix it. I have been planning on getting a new one and when I mentioned that tonight, Greg picked up the camera to check it out. (Not like I haven't tried to get him to do that for months or anything..) he took the batteries out, dropped them back in and sproing! the little tab that the batteries sit on unstuck itself and went back to working like it's supposed to... Now *I* have dropped the batteries in and out of it several times! Did it fix itself for me? Of course not! Needed Greg's magic touch! Grrrr Anyway, since I'm putting this on the Thankful Thursday blog hop, I can add that I'm very thankful that I'll be able to use my camera again!! I'm also thankful for Glitzy Glitter, our Pretty Sitter, RBF and all!

Cashmere Gives Her Opinion

Cashmere: Dear friends, we are still here. We three kitties are doing our best to force the momma to post for us, to comment for us, and basically do anything other than cough and snuffle. Seriously, it's not fun sitting on her when she does that stuff. Although her medicine stuff makes her sleep quietly for long times and we do like that. We've been giving her all the warmths we can and snuggles, so long as she doesn't 'cough us off". She blames the weather going all up and down so whoever's in charge of that, would you please quit playing with the control buttons? Thank you! Smooches and head bumps to all of you!

Caturday Art

I'm using one of Leo's wordless Wednesday pictures. He was so cute laying in all those pillows that I had to see what I could do in lunapic.

This is illusion

And the original

I kept it simple, just a few, but I like all of them!

Tuesday's Trio

It probably seems to you all as if this happens regularly at our house. But that's just because I post it whenever it happens! All three napping right close together!
Glitter: Well, we WERE napping..
Leo: Did I hear the camera thingie again?
Cashmere: Worse, it's the phone thingie that clickclickclicks a million times to produce one decent picture..
Glitter: Back to napping everyone.
Leo: no more clickity clickity?
Cashmere: Not until one of use turns over and acts even cuter anyway.

Can it get cuter?? Glitter has her paws crossed. Leo's using a pillow. And Cashmere is almost, but not quite, laying against Leo! Let the Awwww's begin!

Meow Like a Pirate Day!

It's Meow like a Pirate day again! And I had so planned on making new pictures.. But time has once again gotten away from me, grrrr. So I'm dragging out my favorite old ones, starting with our Jolly Cat-gerrr!

Fly your pirate flags free today, me harties! Yo ho ho and a crate of catnip!

Cap'n Leo is goin' ashore to bury his booty on his secret treasure island! Don't try to get the location out of him, for the last pirate who tried is buried next to his last haul! Muhahahaha!

Sirens Glitter and Cashmere lurk nearby, waiting to lure pirates to their watery graves! Don't be drawn in to their beauty or you'll pay the price!

Lift a mug of catnip rum and sing a few sea shanties with us as we celebrate another fun filled Meow like a Pirate day!

Mancat Monday

Leo: I like it when mom tilts her bed up. It gives me a new place to sleep. Bonus, the girls haven't found this spot yet! Still, I don't know why daddy calls me Snoopy when I'm up here..
By the way, I'm not hanging on for dear life; I've got a leg dangling over each side!

Apparently selfie mode on the phone is grainy? Boy do we need to figure out the broken camera soon, this is getting bad!

Leo: We has lots to be thankful for here this week! First off, mommy's arm is getting better! She can type a little without pain, yay! We is thankful for mommy and daddy who celebrated their anniversary yesterday by staying home and cuddling us kitties! We is thankful for our ratty cat tree so's we can look out the windows, and fer the paw rest!

Leo: We is so thankful when we can thwart mommy by refusing to look at her when she wants to take our pictures! And we is so so so so thankful that her camera broke! Whoo hoo!

Only the cats are happy for the broken camera.. At least I have my phone one, even if it doesn't take the best pictures. And I did have some new pictures on the camera's card waiting to use so we're not out of luck yet! We'll take that as a thankful too!
Hope you all are having a wonderful, thankful week too!

Oh really, Cashmere? Save your mutiny for Pirates day, little girl! Oh hey, what's this? A treat bag?

Cashmere: Curses! Evil woman!
