Weather Watching Wednesday

We just had a really big storm! Ok, not REALLY big like some of you have been going through with tornadoes and downed trees and devastation.. But a big boom boom thunder and lightening storm! With flickering lights and everything!

Just a little FYI on me: I don't like storms. Especially when the lights go out! Especially at night! Especially with close thunder and lightening! Especially... ever! That's all. Call me a wimp, I don't care.

This was the biggest boom boom storm we've had in quite a while. We did lose our lights a while back, but it wasn't as loud, or in the middle of the night so it didn't seem as bad.

So I'm laying there, doing the if-I'm-under-the-blankets-it-can't-get-me, shifty eyes and nose peeking over the top when a huge figure loomed into the edges of my vision! Followed by a near lung collapsing leap to my chest... Oh hi Leo, you scared of the storm too?

I have to let the sheet down enough to get my arms out to comfort my baby and to try to get him to lay down. Leo turns in a circle then starts to lay down, half in my neck, ack! Immediately he jumps back up, turns around again and attempts to crush my lungs again while settling down. Nope, up again, turning, sitting, making with the cello playing for a quick lick lick, but before he can set tongue to fur he's up again.

The storm must really be freaking him out I think! It's ok, baby, I'll protect y... oof! He leaped off of me using power pylon back legs! One bounce and he's on his tree! He shoves the kinda-curtain aside and sits there. Watching the storm. For the rest of the night!

Ok, so there was only one chicken around here I guess..

Although! Come to think of it, I don't know where Star was during this! Maybe I wasn't the lone wimp after all!

There are no pictures of this event. One, because I would have had to get up to get the camera, and two, because I didn't even think of it until it was all over!

But here's an old picture similar to how interested he was, minus the dark and stormies.

Boom! Flash! Ooo Nature's Fireworks!

Little freak...   ;)

Hope you all had/have a better night than we did!

When there's a boom and flashy event Leo remember your Mom will be a gibbering wreck and give her a big cuddle.

We don't like bad storms either. We usually head under the bed when they come.

We've made hidey holes around the house both upstairs and down, so the kitties can feel safe when it's a storm or fireworks...or loud mufflers! However, Chuck has gotten a bit blase', and Angel hides in the upstairs hallway in a little crook made by the linen closet. So, the hidey holes gather dust.

Our Mama likes boom boom storms so she would have been right next to Leo watching it! Heehee :) The rest of us are pretty good with loud booms too but we think Malou might have joined you under the covers!

We aren't fond of storms around here - but we don't get them very often anyhow.

We're not big fans of big storms, either, gang. Here's hoping you get some much better sleep tonight!

Sorry storms scare you so much. I love them too. The fur family here takes after my lead and tries to ignore it thank goodness. Glad you all did OK.

We were lucky to have just more rain than boom booms! Still, the yard is a swamp. The swampy grass is 10" high!!!!

Me and my mum go and hide under the covers too. Eric used to sit in the window and watch the lightning. He used to like watching fireworks across the river too.

When we have a really bad storm like last night, I go into Pop’s room so he can protect me.
