Tree Learnin'

We've had the kitty tree for a while now. And while Leo loves it and Star likes it, no one has really used the whole thing. Meaning, no one goes inside the bottom thingie. The hole thingie at the bottom seems like such a fascinating thing with so many options for fun and napping opportunities!

They both love the very top and will nap there or use it for bird TV watching. It took a while, but Leo started using the second shelf a little bit, not a lot, but a little. As shown in our new gif:

It's a good spot for waitin' for bugs to show up on the screen..

He did go in it once on his own, but he turned around and got out immediately, before I could even catch him on camera.

I'm outta here!

So Greg and I set out to change this situation. I'm going to take the next few days to show off out attempts at getting Leo to realize the fun of the bottom tube!

It could be that both Leo and Star are what Jackson Galaxy calls "tree dwellers" - they like being up high and not so much below. Maybe that's why they have been resistant to the bottom tube.

We had a cat tree that had similar "caves" which Cosmo and Ling never attempted to enter for almost 3 years. And one day, for no apparent reason, I found Ling in there and several weeks later, Cosmo. They have not been back in there since. Perhaps it's too hot?

What if you flip it upside down as an experiment?

Maybe try spreading some catnip in there? That would probably encourage his first visit!

We love our trees but every once in a while we won't go near them for a while...then, it's like new all over again!

Leo try it you'll love it.

Think of it as the "cat" cave.

We wanna see what you did too! Zoey spends most of her time in the bottom. We call it her "hidey hole."

I'm the only one here who likes the little hut things in the cat trees. ~ Marley

We have never paid much attention to our Tree. But it isn't very big and we have so many other toys that we don't pay any attention. One thing that works for us, is to move things around and then we think it is something new. Take care.

The more expensive the furniture or toy the less they use it. Sigh. But I suspect that will change, and suddenly. Mine are like that.

Some of us here are height seekers and others prefer little hidey- holes. It just seems to be a personal preference thing! LP put a little blanket with catnip sprinkled on it for one of Tulip's hidey-holes and she liked that! :)
