Thankful Thursday and Anniversary

First up, Sir Moose-a-lot Roadkill Goodyear Thunderbottom is very thankful that his daddy, my dad, is doing really well! He's in physical therapy rehab now and they have given him a release date of the 23rd! His therapists think there is no reason he won't make that date as he's dedicated to getting back on his feet!

He won't get back on his chemo until next month maybe and won't start radiation on his spine until the incision is healed, so we're holding our breath there. But his spirits are up and he's working hard! Thank you all for purring and praying and sending good thoughts for him!
I can't wait for my daddy to get back home! But I hear that I might get to go up to see him in rehab! I think I'm a little nervous about that, but I'd get to sit on my daddy!! I miss him and his lap!

That's right, this place is so awesome that they let you bring up your pets for a visit! I wonder if there's a carrier big enough for 22 pound Moose... What an awesome idea though!

Next up. Today is our Anniversary! I'm very thankful for my wonderful husband Greg!

I'm thankful that he's the kind of guy who drove 16 hours to pick up my heart kitty. I'm thankful that though he didn't care for cats when I met him he's now become a great cat guy and Star's favorite human in the world. I'm thankful that he loves me as much as I love him. I'm thankful that 26 years ago I married my best friend, and he's still my best friend!

I'm also thankful for Chrystal and Winnie's Wish! She's an amazing lady doing an amazing job in the face of endless abandoned, hurting, feral, pushed aside, scared cats, turning them sweet, tamed, loving kitties, ready for homes of their own!
Her cathouse is full! She needs adoptions, and soon! Please look at the kitties on her sidebar and help find at least one of them a home!
You can also help them by joining in on the Summer FUNdraiser! Get your kitties some toys while helping the Winnie's Wish kitties!
While I may not mention this everyday any more, this FUNdraiser is ongoing! Just like the two previous ones (FUN FUN FUNdraiser and Christmas FUNdraiser), they'll remain open indefinitely!

A Very Special Kitty Intoxicant

Star has found Kitty Nirvana. Ok, maybe not just any kitty would appreciate this.. but it's something Star can't get enough of. So let me start again.

Star has found Star Nirvana!

With grampa (my dad) in the hospital, Twin 1 has come home from Wyoming to help out and to visit him. Twin 1, some of you may recall, has lived with us in the past and prefers to stay here when she's in town.

Star has been addicted to wet hair forever. But with Twin 1, it doesn't have to be wet. She's in LOVE with her hair! In love with anything associated with her actually.. About the only thing she doesn't like about Twin 1 is that she's loud. Her love of her hair or scent or whatever helps her get over that dislike of loudness. So when Twin 1 popped in the other night (she has spent most of her time up at the hospital or with gramma at her house), Star knew something good was up!

Star: There's something familiar about this bag...
Leo: Yeah, that's why I'm hiding in the window!

Leo: I suggest you hide too. But not in this window. I'm here first.
Star: No no, this isn't something I hide from.. it's... It's.. The Loud One! (TLO) She's back!

Star: Yeah, I'ma claim this sucker right now! Hope you didn't want anything out of it TLO!

Oh but wait! This smells like her too!

Oh yeah, I'm gonna need someone to open this thing!

Oh heaven... She must have rested her head on mommy's new pinky resty thing!

Ah, but HERE is the BEST thing of all!!

I gotta sniff sniff sniff this stuff! Ooo fresh washed too!

I don't care if you can breath or not, TLO, I'm gonna roll in this stuff and get my sniff on!

Fine. Don't let me stay in the hair all night. Just don't think you're getting THIS back any time soon! Ah, The Loud One smelling bag, I think I love you....

See, Twin 1, you should stay here and not go back to Wyoming! Can't you feel the love??

hee hee, anyone think that'll work??

Good Mews!

Thank you so much for all the prayers, purrs and well wishes sent for my dad, Sir Moose-a-lot's daddy. The blockage is gone! He's been moved out of ICU and is in the rehab part of the hospital. They are already starting physical therapy and he has better movement in his legs and feet every day. They think he might be in for about four weeks but all he's worried about is being able to stand, walk, and play golf again! And of course, be Moosey's best sleeping lap I'm sure!

It's no fun being without my favorite lap! Hurry home daddy!

Star and Leo have been pretty good. In some ways it's been nice sleeping with both of my kitties. In another way, it's been pretty warm! They're staying as far from each other as they can, meaning Leo on my feet, heating those up, and Star practically under my chin, blocking any fan air from getting to my face! I've been breathing so much cat fur that I'm about to toss my own hairball!

I've also caught them almost playing together! Star gets in the open window and will use the screen to sharpen her claws. This draws Leo's attention and he comes up over the chair to peek at her. She jumps out and chases him! No hissing, no growling! And then he'll chase her back a few paces then they break and run their separate ways!

I CANNOT forget to tell you about Star and a special visitor! Star hates company, HATES it. Strangers make her run! Leo too. He might stick around long enough to see who it is, but then he runs off and hides. My dear cousin P came over. She has recently become a cat person after being a doggie person forever! She came to pick up a set of Winnie's Wish toys for her new kitty, Lucky!

Star was in the window behind the chair P was sitting in. This flipped her out so she ran out. Then decided that was the safest spot and ran back in. As we sat talking, Star crept out of the window and sat on the table next to P. I was sure as soon as she reached over to pet her, Star would bolt!

Instead, she leaned into her hand and begged for more pets! She was making a spectacle of herself! Rolling her head, leaning in, rubbing on her hand when she didn't pet fast enough! She did everything but roll over and beg for tummy rubs! Cousin P is one of few people Star has made friends with, how cool is that?!

And Leo? He made an entrance too! He ran back and forth through the room, mostly as exactly far away from the company as possible, but he was out! P picked up his red stringy and tried to tease him into coming closer. He gave it a few whaps, but kept out of reach the whole time, little brat boy! But at least Star gave her a stamp of approval!

Leo: Yeah, I know Star seemed to like the peoples, but I have to be more cautious just in case Princess Hissyface is trying to draw me into a false sense of security, then WHAM! Some stranger picks me up! *shudder*

Star: Go ahead and say I'm getting soft in my old age, whatever. She was a good petter. That's all that really matters, right?

Continued purrs for my, and Moosey's, dad are appreciated!

And so are donations for Winnie's Wish! They are full up on kitties and every penny helps! Every donation gets you a set of toys in our Summer FUNdraiser so please consider joining in!

PS. We'll try to get around to visit again soon! Please be patient with us!

Update on Sir Moose-a-lot's Daddy

Thank you all for your prayers and purrs for my dad, Moose's dad.
The surgery went well, they removed the part of the tumor that was inside the spine, I don't know why they left what was on the outside except that maybe it was wrapped around? I don't know. Anyway after the surgery they had to sedate him before we could find out if he could move his legs because he was flailing and trying to get the breathing tube out. Once he was asleep we all went home, exhausted.
Today he is awake, alert, the breathing tube is out and he's moving his legs! He can move his feet, but so far not his toes. There is still swelling on the surgery site, so hopefully as that goes down, he'll get the rest of his movement.

Gross alert, skip this paragraph if you want!

They found this tumor because he had a bowel blockage. When his legs collapsed they thought that the blockage was pressing on the same nerves as his pelvic cancer tumor. The x-ray for that showed the spine tumor. They put the blockage on the back burner to deal with the spine tumor because delaying that would mean not walking again. So today they are working on the blockage. This spine tumor must have stopped the bowels from moving, there were no sounds or anything. Today there are sounds and things are starting to move, so yay! (who'd ever think bowels would be something to yay over?)

Again, I appreciate all the prayers and purrs! Please keep them going that he can move his toes and walk soon! Love you all!!

I need my favorite lap back. Get better soon daddy!

Thank you for the purrs!

Sir Moose-a-lot's Daddy

My dad, Sir Moose-a-lot Goodyear Roadkill Thunderbottom's dad, is having surgery this morning. A new tumor was found on his spine yesterday and if they don't take it out now he may not walk again. Please send purrs and prayers for Moosie's daddy.

I need my daddy's lap back, that's my sleeping spot!

You probably won't see us commenting, or maybe blogging for a bit, obviously.

So if you wouldn't mind remembering the Summer FUNdraiser and spreading the word, we'd appreciate it! There are toys ready to go if you make a donation to Winnie's Wish! Thank you!
Also don't forget we're looking for great homes for the Winnie's Wishers!

By The Light Of The Silvery Vine

More Silvervine pictures? Can you handle it? Because there are lots.... They just got so goofy with it! If you haven't tried it with your kitties, consider it, it's awesome!

Leo: I think I love this silvervine on the washcloth!

Star: For once, I think you've said something I can agree with..

Leo: I'm going to wrap myself around it and never let it go. I'm a 'vine filled Leo ball!

Star: I'm not paying attention to you any more. Mostly because I'm busy here, but also because you're being a weirdo..

Leo: I lost my 'viney cloth! NOOOOOOO

Star: Sounds like a personal problem.. You can't have mine, just sayin'...

Leo: Oh wait, there it is!
Star: Better keep track of it now.

Star: I don't think I've let go of mine once. I ..don't think I can let go!

Leo: I gotchu now!

Leo: Oh joyful Silvervine! I'm doing a new dance for you! It's a cross between the Worm and the Twist, it's the Woist!

Leo: Oh my gosh, what's under here!
Star: You're gonna lose your cloth again.. goober.

Star: See how I keep track of mine? I just never take my nose off of it.

Leo: Aahhh! What's that now?!?

Leo: I ... think I'm going to hyperventilate under here.. And I've swept up more of mom's sewing trimmings in my fluffy tail! Quick! Call the cops!

Star: Dude, the last think you need is the cops.. they'd haul your fuzzy butt to lockup! Now shut up so I can concentrate on stuffing my face completely into this cloth.. *snniiiiiiiiiiffffff*

Yeah, I think Leo had a wilder reaction, but Star would not let go for the longest time! She drooled and rubbed, he rolled and flipped. I think it's safe to say the silvervine was a hit!
