Rolly Goofball

Sometimes, even when I think Leo's being a wild man playing, I look at the pictures later and realize, dang, he was a lazy player again! To be fair, when he IS leaping around, it's very hard to get pictures while I'm wielding Da Bird, so most of the pictures of him playing are when he's chilling out or before the crazies. But those crazies don't last as long as you'd assume they would in such a young kitty.

Here's an example, he was playing rather wildly, but the pictures don't show it.

No! It got away from me!

Still not close enough.. come on!

I got it! But hey, there's all kinds of toys behind me...

If I roll over here, you have to flip the bird farther. Come on, quit being lazy mommy..

Ha! I got it again!

That's my boy, wild for a few minutes, lazy and rolly for another few, then shortly after, nap time!

TV Star

Star watches TV. But she's very particular as to what she watches. Previously her favorite has been bear cubs on PBS. But she has since discovered Too Cute on Animal Planet. She's still picky about what parts she watches though.

Kittens? depends.
It's ok, not quite as cute as I was. I give it some of my attention.

Whatever the heck this was....? No.
People are boring. Pictures of people, even more boring.

 Momma kitty nursing kittens? Yup.
Now that reminds me of when I had kittens. One mew from them and I am on the spot! However I detest when my mom tries fooling me by playing those sounds on her lapwarmer, I mean laptop.

Squeaky wriggly kittens? Yup.
Just where is their mother? You are NOT supposed to leave your babies cry!

Baby skunks? Oh heck yes!
Now THERE are some tasty looking snacks! I mean... babies.. No wait.. I'm confused. But I'm also really really glad we don't have smell-o-vision!

Do YOU watch anything on TV?

Role Reversal

Leo lives on his cat tree. Star loves to be in the door. When it's nice out, and windows are open, that's where you will find them. Each in their own spot. I did a double take on one of the last nice days when I saw this.

Star! That's you in the window!
In the window, yes, but you will notice that I'm not on the barbarian-contaminated tree. Ignore the tail laying on it...

And Leo! You're in the door!
Leo: I don't know where else I could be.. I sure as heck ain't goin' up there right now!

Probably a good idea...
Star: Alright, quiet down, woman, we're keeping an eye out for bugs and intruders!
Leo: What was that!? Oh, nothing... Whew. Oh look! Bugs!!

We hope you all take advantage of any good days left in your year!

Mancat Monday

Leo is a big mancat now. But he's still a great big goofball too!

I likes catnip now!

(the stringy is not pink, it's just the flash making it look that way)
And I gots my stringy!

But who NEEDS toys!

I can make a toy out of anything, even a table!

That's my big goofball mancat!

Star's Got A Brand New Bag

I wish I wish I wish I had stopped watching with my mouth hanging open and had grabbed the camera.. Of course, it was such a short time that I would have totally missed it by the time the camera was ready to shoot and I would have missed seeing it too so.. I guess I made the right decision to just gape and watch the weirdest thing Star has done lately.

See this big bag?

This bag belongs to my niece, twin 1, who lives with us when she's in town. She got back into town a few days ago. Most of her stuff is still in the middle of the living room. But I guess that's fair since half of the living room is still in her room waiting for us to finish the living room.. as if THAT's going to happen any time soon.. But I digress.

This bag was not occupying this place. No, it was a good two or three feet from the chair on top of some boxes behind a paper bag where twin 1 left it.

As Greg and I were finishing dinner, we heard a noise. We looked over and there was our tiny little 6 pound kitty dragging this bag backwards with her teeth, over box and bag and gap to stop in HER chair.

Once she got it into the chair she backed up until it was in the position it's in now, which wound up with her half buried inside the bag. I laughed. She backed out of the bag and looked at me. Then at Greg. Then she ignored us both and started licking the bag with the abandon of a catnip addict in a pile of fresh nip.

Licking bags is not new to Star. She licks grocery bags all the time. Licking bags is not exclusive to Star, I know other cats who blog do it and I used to have another cat or two who loved it as well. But dragging the bag to a comfortable spot for the licking.. That's a first!

What's so wrong with wanting to be comfortable while indulging in a hobby?

And just because it seems to have been a little Star heavy on the blog lately, here's a gratuitous shot of Leo The Chinese Lion doing what he does best. Looking cute!

People love me too.. don't they?

Orange Visit

As I was looking through my recent pictures to see what I would post today, I ran across some from last week. It's odd, today we're freezing our buns off, there was slush on the car this morning from it sleeting all night, and yet, last week it was warm enough to have open doors.. Go figure.

While those doors were open, we had a visit. It was not particularly welcome by the furry feminine resident here within. And she made no bones about it to him.

I missed what was happening at first. Star sits on the edge of the carpet when she's watching critters out the door. That way she can run up and scare the bejezzus out of them at the right moment. But this time, she didn't move off the edge of the carpet but sat there chattering in a low grumbly voice.

Well this can't be the ebil squirrel or the norty birdies, those she'd jump out at. So I tried to get a peek at the visitor. Before I could though, he moved, all I heard was the skitter of claws on the cement and then Star dived at the door and let out a mighty hiss.

Get out of here you you... intruder!

I moved slower, trying to get a picture of whoever was causing such a reaction. I mean, sheesh, you'd think Leo was out there! MOL

I got a glimpse of the interloper.

I said go! We don't want you around here!
This is MY house and we already have one more cat than we need!

Surely I can get a better picture...

That's it, keep moving!

Oh there he is!
I've still got my eyes on you!

It's the big orange kitty who lives across the street! The one who's had issues with Leo through this very window! He sits on the broken porch bench and trades unspeakable words with my boy! Sometimes you have to wonder where they learn such language. Well, I'm here to tell you, THIS boy the one who is corrupting my innocent baby Leo with his nasty bad vocabulary!

What are you stopping for? Do NOT sit in MY yard and scratch!

Quit looking back at me! No one said you were allowed to look upon my perfect self!
Get moving again you big orange trespasser! You are catona non grata around here!

He did, after a few more moments, take off, objecting to my presence, not Star's commentary on his person, presence, personality, parentage, and problematic personal hygiene..

I'm sure he'll be back. And I'm sure Star will tell him off again.

Hey, did you know it's the last day to get a brick in the Winnie's Wish Walkway?
And did you see all the sweeties up for adoption? Here they are in the Halloween finery that I did for Chrystal! They sure are awful cute and sure are in need of homes! Please check them out and see if you, or someone you know, could be their forever family!
