If you don't want to listen to my whining about my woes, feel free to skip to the kitty pictures at the bottom of this post! I won't blame you a bit!
Last weekend, I'm sitting here in this rehab facility, resting my ouchie knee and enjoying a nice lunch. My laptop safely standing on it's side on the bed next to me, leaning against a pillow. Oh look! I don't remember what it was but it caused me to suddenly reach across my tray to grab something on the other side ...whereupon I knocked a glass of fruit punch over ...it spilled all over my sheets, pillows and.. you guessed it, it splattered the back of my laptop. Which was on in sleep mode!
After making a futile attempt to sop up some of the juice currently residing on me, and staining up my very favorite cat top, I realized that the laptop had been splashed and quickly dried it. In drying it, I bumped keys that turned woke it up. It started giving me error messages to turn it off immediately because the cooling system had been compromised! But it wouldn't let me shut down, ARGH! Finally I pushed and held down the power button and it went off, whew!
I dried it up as well as I could. Then I made the second mistake.. I turned it back on. Or rather I tried to. It wouldn't turn on at all. I learned later that I should have yanked the battery immediately when it got wet and not put it back until it had been taken apart and cleaned, probably by a professional. Letting any electricity run through it allowed it to get warm and it doesn't take much heat at all before the chip set fries. So my chip set fried. And apparently it will cost more in parts and labor to fix it than it's worth. Greg questioned that as it was an expensive i9 laptop, but the answer was still the same. dang!
So here I am, out in the middle of no where, an hour from home, little cell service, spotty internet, and now no computer! Can you say "Waaah!" Well I did, lol!
Greg, however, went to get me a used something to use while we waited to see if there was hope for my laptop (nope) but he found a new HP on a good sale and got me that. So I'm on line, when the internet works, but I have none of my programs, pictures, or editing tools! And I'm not at home to take more pictures or get any off of my camera. :(
I did get home this week! For about an hour for a home check with my physical therapist so they know what I need to do or work on in order to go home. While we were there I was bound and determined to prove that I could do things! Because I really really want to go home! So of course I did something I shouldn't have done and nearly wrenched my hip out of it's joint.. I'm an idiot! And I was almost back to square one for a while but after xrays showed it wasn't broken or dislocated I'm back to working hard to get back home! I hope this doesn't set me back too long..
Oh! And while I was home I got to see my kitties! Would you guess that they missed me so much that they all dived into my arms and got lots and lots of scritches and I got lots and lots of kitty love?? Well you'd be wrong! Because they did not like strangers in their house and that included the therapist and the transport drivers and very likely my niece even though they like her (when all is quiet). Cashmere sat still for some pets but would not turn to face me, so all I got was some kitty backside to scritch.
My niece, twin 2 by the way, picked up Leo and handed him to me. He went out of his mind, fourteen paws of claws, crazy, trying to get away! So all I got from him was a face full of fur and some scratches! Little brat..
Glitter wouldn't even put in an appearance. All I saw of her was her tail disappearing up the stairs.
Sigh
My cousin brought up her sweet little doggie, a rescue Pomeranian, to visit me and give me some furry love though! And what a cuddler she was! If I can steal a picture of her from my cousin I'll post it soon.
Ok, on to the promised pictures of kitties! Nephew's girlfriend took some more of my kitties and sent them to me on facebook. Another first at our house!
I have shared pictures of the kitties sleeping on the standing mattress before. Star loved to sleep there and so has Leo. Glitter discovered it and would take naps there occasionally too. One kitty at a time, waiting required!
Then I get these:
That's Glitter in the front and Leo behind her, both on the mattress! Aww, almost cuddling!
Leo: If you're not the lead cat, the view never changes!
Glitter: I'd avert my gaze if I were you...
Twin 2 set Cashmere up there, just to see what would happen.
Glitter: Yikes, I think I see what you mean, Leo!
Leo: I don't know what you're talking about, my eyes are still averted!
Cashmere: Um... are you sure it's not full up here already?
Then everyone settled in!
All: Whoo whooo! All aboard the furry train! Next stop; Sleepytown!
That's all I have for now.. If I don't get any more pictures from anyone, I don't know what I'll be able to share, even if I do get a good connection! I will try to visit more to make up for missing posting!
Love you all, thanks for hanging in there with us while we go through such big upheavals!!

Oh dear we are so sorry about your laptop but glad at least you got something to keep you connected until you are back home. Love the photos of the kitties.
That is a great picture of all 3 together. I hope you are soon able to get back home.
as someone who has spilled way too many drinks a bedside, I can so feel for you. that is a really stinky way to get a new laptop.
Love the cat photos though, especially the last
We're sorry to hear about your laptop. It must have been nice to get home for a little bit. We hope it will be permanent real soon.
Darn, that is tough to lose the computer and then to re-injure yourself as well. I'm sure once you are home for good, the cats will relax and be quite thrilled to have your cuddles!
I certainly hope is soon!
Love the photos, especially the last one!
Love the train to Floof Town!
Sorry everything is going so wrong - hope you feel better and get home to them soon!!
The first time I (TBT) was exposed to computers at work, I practically had to wear a mask and wear sterile gloves. Eventually, we were allowed computers at our desks, but food and drink were forbidden within 10'. At the end, it was just "OK, you killed your computer (again) with a spilled desk beverage (sigh)". The computer folks had all our files backed up and it was just a minr hardeware cost.
But when it happens at home, it causes more problems. Hardeware costs matter more at home.
But sometimes that sort of accident gives you the opportunity to change computer systems.
I switched from Windows to Mac without any problems.
Sometimes life just seems like it is out to get you especially when you are at a low ebb! I'm so sorry you are having a rough time and can totally sympathise with the pain of a knackered knee. Having a working 'puter and internet connection is an absolute lifesaver when you are not as mobile as before. I know mine has been a window on the world while I was not even able to leave the house.
I'm signing off with my other blog in the hope my latest post raises a much 'knee'ed smile to our 'joint' comradeship!
http://gonebeading.blogspot.co.uk/ Take care, take the painkillers and keep your chin up.
Love and hugs,

The 3-kitty sleep train is a great photo. I hope you get more to share.
