Award and Opt to Adopt Blog Hop

Way back in August, the middle of August.. Spitty the kitty gave us an awardie!

I'm supposed to link to my favorite song and then pass the award on.

This is one of my favorite songs, and videos. Build Your Kingdom Here. I love it for the enthusiasm and instruments and lyrics. If anyone knows the name of the instrument the one guy uses that looks like two pie plates on a stick that he bangs on the ground and uses a bow on too, please tell me what it is! It's so cool!

I'm passing this on to the following:

Love and Hisses
Katie Isabella
Animal Shelter Volunteer Life
Brian's Home
And of course Daily Dose of Dogs (AKA Cats With Your Coffee)

Please visit all of them, I'm sure you'll love them!

It Never Rains But It Pours

Well, people and kitties... Never has a truer saying been said than at this moment, this saying: It never rains but it pours.

If you don't want to listen to my whining about my woes, feel free to skip to the kitty pictures at the bottom of this post! I won't blame you a bit!

Last weekend, I'm sitting here in this rehab facility, resting my ouchie knee and enjoying a nice lunch. My laptop safely standing on it's side on the bed next to me, leaning against a pillow. Oh look! I don't remember what it was but it caused me to suddenly reach across my tray to grab something on the other side ...whereupon I knocked a glass of fruit punch over ...it spilled all over my sheets, pillows and.. you guessed it, it splattered the back of my laptop. Which was on in sleep mode!

After making a futile attempt to sop up some of the juice currently residing on me, and staining up my very favorite cat top, I realized that the laptop had been splashed and quickly dried it. In drying it, I bumped keys that turned woke it up. It started giving me error messages to turn it off immediately because the cooling system had been compromised! But it wouldn't let me shut down, ARGH! Finally I pushed and held down the power button and it went off, whew!

I dried it up as well as I could. Then I made the second mistake.. I turned it back on. Or rather I tried to. It wouldn't turn on at all. I learned later that I should have yanked the battery immediately when it got wet and not put it back until it had been taken apart and cleaned, probably by a professional. Letting any electricity run through it allowed it to get warm and it doesn't take much heat at all before the chip set fries. So my chip set fried. And apparently it will cost more in parts and labor to fix it than it's worth. Greg questioned that as it was an expensive i9 laptop, but the answer was still the same. dang!

So here I am, out in the middle of no where, an hour from home, little cell service, spotty internet, and now no computer! Can you say "Waaah!" Well I did, lol!

Greg, however, went to get me a used something to use while we waited to see if there was hope for my laptop (nope) but he found a new HP on a good sale and got me that. So I'm on line, when the internet works, but I have none of my programs, pictures, or editing tools! And I'm not at home to take more pictures or get any off of my camera. :(

I did get home this week! For about an hour for a home check with my physical therapist so they know what I need to do or work on in order to go home.  While we were there I was bound and determined to prove that I could do things! Because I really really want to go home! So of course I did something I shouldn't have done and nearly wrenched my hip out of it's joint.. I'm an idiot! And I was almost back to square one for a while but after xrays showed it wasn't broken or dislocated I'm back to working hard to get back home! I hope this doesn't set me back too long..

Oh! And while I was home I got to see my kitties! Would you guess that they missed me so much that they all dived into my arms and got lots and lots of scritches and I got lots and lots of kitty love?? Well you'd be wrong! Because they did not like strangers in their house and that included the therapist and the transport drivers and very likely my niece even though they like her (when all is quiet). Cashmere sat still for some pets but would not turn to face me, so all I got was some kitty backside to scritch.

My niece, twin 2 by the way, picked up Leo and handed him to me. He went out of his mind, fourteen paws of claws, crazy, trying to get away! So all I got from him was a face full of fur and some scratches! Little brat..

Glitter wouldn't even put in an appearance. All I saw of her was her tail disappearing up the stairs.

Sigh

My cousin brought up her sweet little doggie, a rescue Pomeranian, to visit me and give me some furry love though! And what a cuddler she was! If I can steal a picture of her from my cousin I'll post it soon.

Ok, on to the promised pictures of kitties! Nephew's girlfriend took some more of my kitties and sent them to me on facebook. Another first at our house!

I have shared pictures of the kitties sleeping on the standing mattress before. Star loved to sleep there and so has Leo. Glitter discovered it and would take naps there occasionally too. One kitty at a time, waiting required!

Then I get these:

That's Glitter in the front and Leo behind her, both on the mattress!  Aww, almost cuddling!

Leo: If you're not the lead cat, the view never changes!
Glitter: I'd avert my gaze if I were you...

Twin 2 set Cashmere up there, just to see what would happen.

Glitter: Yikes, I think I see what you mean, Leo!
Leo: I don't know what you're talking about, my eyes are still averted!
Cashmere: Um... are you sure it's not full up here already?

Then everyone settled in!

All: Whoo whooo! All aboard the furry train! Next stop; Sleepytown!

That's all I have for now.. If I don't get any more pictures from anyone, I don't know what I'll be able to share, even if I do get a good connection! I will try to visit more to make up for missing posting!

Love you all, thanks for hanging in there with us while we go through such big upheavals!!

Meow Like A Pirate Day

Arrr, it be Meow like a Pirate day!

It be time to raise the Jolly Mittens!

Sisters Glitter and Cashmere didn't take the day so literally.. They wanted to be Pirate Killers! Mercat Sirens who draw the pirate ships to crash on the rocks. Don't look into their eyes too long or you'll be scuttled as well!

Captain Leo the pirate king knows better than to mess with sisters, or fish! (that's probably only funny if you know he can't eat fish..) So you might find him on some dark dreary island trying to hide his booty!

Please indulge me if I share my two favorite Pirate day pictures of Star from years past.

Some scallywag is in trouble as Pirate Queen Star draws her saber!

The Queen's work may never be done, but she's earned a catnap with her treasures!

Arr, we hope you all enjoy a mug of grog and have a great pirate day!

Sharing and Opt to Adopt Blog Hop

Going to try to make a post while I have internet! Fingers crossed that I can finish before it goes out again!

Thank you all for your kindness on the loss of my Star. Your words help a lot.

My nephew's girlfriend, the sweetheart who helps me out when I have projects and sewing to do, has been going to my house during the day several times a week to pet and love on my lonely kitties and to help out taking care of litter and such. She took a picture that just floored me and I want to share it with you all.

I believe that's Leo on the left and Glitter on the right. Sharing the shelf! At the SAME TIME! As far as I know, this is a first! I've never seen more than one kitty sleeping or lounging up there at a time. I've seen kitties look to go up, see that it's already occupied and then leave.

As you can see, there's plenty of room for two kitties, so it's about time, isn't it, for sharing space! I can't wait to get home and see this for myself!

Dogs N Pawz

It's opt to adopt blog hop time again. This time I'm sharing a fairly new Winnie's Wisher who needs a special home.

Silver loves attention and people, all people. But he's not so good with other kitties. He could really use a home where he's an only kitty. Or perhaps one where there's an alpha kitty who will keep him in line? Mostly he wants a home where he can be pet and loved, do you know of a place like that?

You can learn more about Silver HERE.

If you know of a great home for him, please contact Chrystal at Daily Dose!

Thankfulness

I cannot begin to express how touched we all are with the concern and caring you all have poured out on us at the loss of our sweet little Star. We miss her terribly.

It has been especially rough since Greg and I are apart while I'm in here (an hour from home) trying to get my legs to work right again and Greg is home by himself. The comforting words and prayers from you all are helping us tremendously.

I would love to visit each and every one of you to thank you but the interenet connection here is hit or miss and spotty at best. Please know that even if you do not see me comment on your blog, that we are very grateful for everything.

I want to make sure to say a special thanks to Ann of Zoolatry for the wonderful memorial banner she made of Star. I love it.

Star rarely sat on this cat tree, but I think this is the most adorable pose with her little paws over the edge and everything. Ann, thank you for making my tiny girl look like an adorable angel. Trademark fiesty eyes and all.

I don't want to focus on the sad, I want to think on the good.

Star was 15 years old, I had her for 13 of those years and I like to think that we gave her wonderful years to make up for her not so great beginning. She was a very healthy kitty all of her life, for which I'm grateful. This kidney failure was so sudden and unexpected, such a shock. It is good for Star that she didnt have a long drawn illness to suffer through. She was really only visibly sinking in the last day and a half. That's why Greg took her to the emergency vet instead of waiting for the appointment.

What was shockingly fast for us was blessedly short for Star. What comforts me is knowing that Greg was with her and that she was not suffering long. Your comments, wonderful friends, have helped to aleviate my guilt at not being home to say goodbye. You are right, she knew she was loved, knew that I loved her, no matter where she was.

Leo, Glitter and Cashmere know something is different according to Greg, but they are romping together and playing. I'm sorry to say that it will probably be easier on the three of them without Princess Hissyface grumbling at them. I have been sent pictures of them and will try to share them if my internet holds up, fingers crossed.

I've been trying to post this for three days now, so there's a hint on how I'm fighting the internet here..
I've been trying to visit more as well, but when I try to comment most of the time all I get is a big whilte box where the comment box is supposed to be. Please know that I'm trying and that I love you all. Thank you for everything!

Goodbye Star

With a heavy heart I have to report that Star has left us. She had been losing weight though she ate with gusto until last night. Early this morning she went to the emergency vet and they found her to be in kidney failure with no hope of recovery. She wouldn't even respond to Greg petting her and she loved her daddy dearly.

My biggest regret, aside from losing her at all, is that I was not home for her in her final days. Greg was with her though, and I am very grateful for that. We are both terribly upset about this sudden departure. We knew she was getting up there in age, but were no where near ready for this.

It's Ham-mock Time

Glitter has discovered the joys of the ham-mock.

Someone told me that this belongs to Leo.

He can have it back after my nap.

Something tells me that she'll be a better sharer than Star, no?
