Cats, Bags, and Laundry Baskets, Part 2

When last we left off, Leo had just left the big bag atop the laundry basket, where Greg had put it in a misguided attempt to keep the kitties off the folded towels. (Ha!)

Someone else decided this was The Perfect Spot! Of course she did. What cat wouldn't!

But the thing is.. Do any of you have a digital camera that takes forEVER to open and get ready to take a picture? Are they all this way? And does yours make a big noise as the lens comes out so the kitties know you're about to start flashing away? Do you ever want to scream at your camera??

This is why I only have two pictures of Star and the bag on the basket. sigh Well, that and she didn't stay in there very long on her initial exploration.

Hmm, the bag covers the towels, but now I have the best of both worlds. Baggy goodness and softy soft bed basket. I give it a 9 out of 10. It has that recent barbarian smell or it would score better..

I believe I'll come back later to truly enjoy this wonderful bed bag combo that I'm sure dad created just for me. He loves me so much!

Did you notice the handles? Oh the handles.. That I forgot to cut.. on this most attractive cat magnet.. Do you see it coming? I should have. Not like it hasn't happened before.. Not like I wasn't warned before..

I think it was the next time that Star got into the bag on a basket that she wriggled around a little too much. See how it's at the far end of the basket, not really protecting all the towels anyway! Well, she rolled her little self right into the back of the bag and it slowly tipped over and stood up straight on the end table next to the chair.

Did Stat panic? Maybe a little.. But before I could even register what was happening, she reached out of the bag to grab the back of the chair to pull herself out of the bag. Did she go over the handles? Beside them? Oh come now, you have cats, right? You know she did not!

She went right through the handle, and being a petite little thing, she managed to get out of the bag and up the back of the chair. Most of her anyway.. Her back end got stuck.

"Does this bag make my butt look big?" *

Ok, that probably wasn't her first thought. Her first thought was "GET THIS THING OFF ME!" so she 'jumped' down onto the basket, but that didn't free her. So she jumped down to the floor, but that didn't free her. So she dived under the chair. That did free her because the bag got stuck on the front of the chair! Whew!

So now the bag has been relieved of it's handles and resides on the floor where it gets plenty of use every day. Star loves to dive into it in the dead of night and thrash around so everyone wakes up and knows she's playful!

Leo likes to get in it and think about ambushing, but he's not quite brave enough to actually jump out.

And the basket of clean towels? Well daddy didn't want to get rid of somewhere HIS girl liked sleeping, so he put a quilt on it and smooshed a little indentation into it and she loves loves loves to sleep on it.
...I think we're going to have to start using paper towels for bath towels...

*No, her butt does not look big. In fact, after some minor health issues over the winter I think she is now down below her usual petite 6 pounds. We are trying to fatten her up just a little and she's in heaven with the extra snacks and treats.

Yes to three of my cameras (all point and shoot). The only one that isn't particularly noisy is my Fuji HS10 (a few years old now), but it's a large, heavy camera and I don't use it a lot. The lens is adjusted manually, though, so doesn't make noise when you're zooming in or out.

Glad Star managed to extricate herself from the bag...sort of. Good thing the handles are cut off. now. LOL. I cut the handles off any bags that are in reach of the cats, even the plastic grocery bags I use for newspaper recycle. (Paper bags are not common here.)

We love laundry day but we don't like slow cameras either.

We still think that a bag on top of the laundry is the ultimate in cat luxury!

We didn't realize that Star had health issues. What is she eating to help her fatten up? We just realized we don't know what she usually eats! We hope she's feeling all better now.

star might not be so fond of bags anymore.

I use my phone a lot to take pictures. They may not be as high quality, but my phone camera loads so much faster and doesn't make any noise! My digital one makes noise when it's opening and the cats always run off! Haha.

We don't take any notice of the camera because we hear the click so often it's like background noise now!

Bags are an EXCELLENT invention. Best thing since sliced bread, I think. Maybe better. Well, bags and boxes, of course. But you are oh-so-wise to cut the handles. Don't know why peeps insist on attachin' those pesky handles to the wonder that is the bag.

Yep, that whirr of the lens gives me warning every time my human thinks she wants to start taking pictures of me!

My human always remembers to cut the bag handles - once, when I was much younger, I got my head stuck in a plastic bag handle and panicked like mad! Ever since, my human a) has kept the plastic bags way out of reach and b) made sure our paper bags had their handles cut.

My old camera used to take forever, but luckily the one I have now is a lot better. That bag on the laundry thing looks awesome ... we'll have to get the peeps to hook us up!

Star Honey, please eat and gain some weight. I would love to hear you are up to 7 whole pounds. Leo said even he would like you to regain your weight. Yes he did too. I heard him.

My camera is similar, it clicks and whirs and the cats immediately disappear or move from that "perfect" shot. The only way I can manage is to try to leave the room with the camera, set it up and hope when I come back the cat(s) are still where I want them to be. Sigh...

Sounds like Star wasn't too freaked out by the bag. Why is it cats always want to play with the noisy toys at night?

The mom tries to trick us by turning the flashy box on before she comes in the room to take our pictures so that we don't here it and run away. :)

Sigh. In addition to being slow as molasses to get going, my camera make a little musical trill when I turn it on. Spitty can hear it a mile away! I take it in another room, hide it under my clothing. Forget it. Dead giveaway. I have missed SOOOOOO many pictures. Now you may understand why there are so many pictures of Spitty napping. --The Human

We are surprised that she didn't have bag trauma after having it stuck on her! Sorry to hear about her being ill. Hope all is well now!

After I shoved the old camera off the wall an down the stairs, it started making grindy noises when TBT turned it on (which we loved). But when he realized he was just never gonna get another picture of us, he got a new one. An I cant find where he hides it... Drat! ~ IZA
