Star's Back

I meant to mention something the other day!

Remember the door sharing last weekend? I had such a good shot of Star's back and I totally forgot to point out that her hair was all coming back on her bald spot!

Here's a close up of her back.

That's not skin, that's fur! The shiny line there is where she parted it in her bath. Up on her neck is one of her hairless scars from when she was 'made a mommy' from a strange cat who broke into her home at the time.

I've stopped putting the coconut oil on her back because not only is the skin all smooth and no scabs and healthy looking, but she just over licks to get it off! She gets her coconut oil fix straight from the jar now! And trust me, if I forget, she reminds me!

I know some of you have said you give your kitties coconut oil, so I'm wondering if any of you have noticed something that I noticed in Star since she's been on it.

I've talked before about how Star gets a drink from her special glass in the bathroom every night, and that she used to jump up there for it but since she's gotten older and I'm pretty sure arthritis is starting to bother her, that she asks to be picked up and put there. It is the ONLY time she wants to be picked up and no, she does NOT want to be held because as soon as she is up, heads for that counter and if you try to stop her, she will claw her way there.

Anyway, since she's been on the coconut oil, she has stopped asking to be picked up. Shuns my offer of help with extreme prejudice! And she jumps up all by herself! Is it a coincidence? Is the coconut oil, for lack of a better word, 'oiling' up her joints? Does it work that way?

I know it's not the weather, as least I don't think so. It has warmed up some, but it's been very rainy and I'm pretty sure rain and damp does not make arthritis feel good.

All I know is that my little girl is looking, and feeling, better! Thanks for all the purrs!!

We're so glad her fur is growing back and that she's doing so well. Maybe there IS something to this coconut oil. Maybe our human ought to try it for us, just for the heck of it. Whether it's that or something else that's working for Star, it's good news!

Thanks for stopping by to wish Nicki a happy Gotcha Day. He had some deli ham and 6x6 kisses. LOL.

1. Does it help asthma?
2. Where do you get it?

I'm glad Star has been rejuvenated and is keeping it real.

We're so glad that Star's furs are coming back so well! We don't know much about the coconut oil, but we'd be interested in knowing if it does help the ol' joints.

That is great news about Star's fur! I wonder about coconut oil... except my human is beginning to think I may have an acid reflux problem, and if I do, I will have to avoid fats.

I'd be keen to hear more about the coconut oil too as one of mine has luxated patellae and arthritis.

Star's fur is glorious.

That's wonderful! Tutu's been barbering a spot on her flank and has now started on another spot under her tail. I would really like to give coconut oil a try.
Is the coconut oil you're using specifically for pets? Or are you using the regular ones we find on the shelf for humans? Please let me know!
Thanks!

Mom's answer to every question is to check google. Why not check benefits of coconut oil in cats or pets? That is so wonderful that Star has improved in more ways that one. Star, my sweet darling! How I have missed you since my Human has been so irresponsible and unreliable about helping me visit! She's useless, really.

Your back furs are glorious and it is wonderful news that you are leaping more easily. I may have to look into that oil myself (not that I have athritis, but I *am*, ahem, almost NINE.
