It's her own fault. I think. I hope it's not serious, but we're taking her in just to be sure. You see, she's gone and licked a huge patch of fur off of her back. It's not an abscess, that much I'm sure of. It's bald. Her rough tongue did lift some skin off, but even that never got icky like you'd think. Just scabbed and healed. But she won't let the hair grow back. At least she's stopped making it bigger.
It started with a little tiny rashy spot. She gets these every spring and fall, but this was early. It usually happens when the air conditioners go on, and when the heat goes on. I don't know what set it off, but started the way it always does. She gets a rash, she scratches, then it heals and she's fine. Except this time, on this one spot, not all of them, she wouldn't stop licking it. When I noticed she was removing the hair, it was the size of a dime. In just a few days she made it bigger than a silver dollar.
I'm hoping the vet says it's already healing and there's no problem. And that she's a goofy girl for getting in a tizzy over her usual rash.
Want to see it? It's hard to picture as her skin is as gray as her fur.. And the flash shines on it.
It's not icky, but if you don't want to see, stop here and have a good weekend!
I'm not looking at your flashy box..
Ok, now I am. Are you about done?
I'm also ignoring you about the V. E. T. thing.. Don't expect to find me in the morning.
Hope you all have a good weekend! I'll try to post the results on either Saturday or Sunday.

Wow! That is quite a large spot. Tutu has been licking a spot on her bum and it's now bald (though the spot is no where as big as Star's). She isn't bothering her so much now and the fur is growing back. Not sure what triggered it, though.
We hope the vet says there's no problem!
PS/ Yes, you can FURminate bunnies too. Just need to be careful because of their body shape. :) I haven't tried with the guinea pigs (I'm highly allergic to them) though. I usually bath them and that gets rid of their loose fur.
Star, I hope the vet does not make you wear the cone of shame!
Hope the vet can help. Poor baby.
Paws crossed for Star. It sounds bit like a hotspot, the kind dogs get...

Be well, purrty Star. Maggy would have offered to loan you a little extra fur to wear while you heal, but all hers got taken away recently. We know it's hard not to scratch-and-itch ... but do your best, sweetie.
Poor Star! Hoping all goes well at the vet and will be looking for an update. Sending ((((hugs)))) and kitty kisses!
Oh, no, Star! Your back is going to get cold if you don't let the fur grow back. We hope the vet says it's nothing to worry about.
Oh dear Star we won't blame you for trying to hide when you hear the word v-e-t but we think you ought to go as maybe you need something to make your pretty furs grow back.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Interested to know what caused it xxx
Awww Star... you have to stop this or the human will bring you to the V.E.T. over and over again!
Hope it is already healing too!

Oh, no! We hope everything goes well at the vet, are sending purrs for healing!
This sounds like some kind of allergy...probably environmental since it happens when the air conditioner goes on. We hope all goes well for Star tomorrow at the v-e-t.
i hope things go well at the vet...

Poor Star. We hope you come back with something that will help and not with the Cone of Shame! Tessa says she'll loan Star some fur. She's shedding anyway and doesn't need it all. Purrs...
Poor Star! The Baby has been licking her tummy lately; I just started her on benadryl for spring allergies.
I hope she heals up quickly
Poor Baby Star. Hope it's nothing big and that she heals quickly.
Emma and Buster
My Tucker licked a big spot of fur off from under the base of his tail, but that was due to stress. Did anything change recently in your household that would have caused Star some anxiety? In any case, I hope it is well on its way to healing.
We are all sending lots of puurs to sweet Star and we hope all is okay with that spot.
yikes....that is a scary spot you have there miss Star. wonder if they can figure out what is causing it..... those itches are bad news
(on another note, we are back to square one on the transport - the lady in Iowa won't let the cats overnight in her house)
Poor Star! It does look like an allergic reaction to something and then you keep licking at it! Ugh. If only you could tell your Mama! Good luck at the vet's tomorrow :)
the critters in the cottage xo
Poor Starr. Maybe it's the dryness of the CK and heat that irritates her spin. Before the AC and heat goes on, maybe you should give her more brushies to stimulate the oil glands in her skin. Poor baby.
Poor sweetie! Feel better!!
Hmmm, We see ointments and mebbe even a cone in the future...
::guilty giggle:: Oopsie, I guess our little games can get an eensy bit out of control. Don't tell the V-man too much, okay?
That doesn't look good, I wonder if she got a fungus. I had it once with Lisa our now gone cat, and it looked the same. The vet gave her an antibiotic shot and slowly it went away !
Honey you have allergies. It's time for some allergy shots. xoxox
We are sending purrays for Star!
Kisses
Nellie
Great stinky eye at the Mom for making you show efurryone in the whole wide world your boo- boo
MOWZERS, Star! That looks uncomfortable! Maaaaaybe the V-E-T isn't such a bad idea after all...
