Sun Star

What a beautiful weekend we had! The sun was shining hard for a change. Star was loving it. She has always loved sleeping in the sun and often tracks it during the day. She'll move as the sun moves. For a long time I always always kept the curtains closed so she would have to open them to lay in the sun. Which she did by hooking a claw in it and holding it open. I don't know how she could sit there for so long with her paw hanging on the curtain.. but she did. She even seemed to get irritated if I, once in a while, would open the curtain a little for her and she couldn't get her claw in it.

Recently, since last summer/fall and our half complete remodel, we have not had curtains up in the living room at all. It does make me a little crazy.. but both kitties have loved being able to see out easily. Whenever we have a sunny day, Star has loved the sun puddles. This weekend was SUNNY.

At the moment, we have too many boxes in the living room. It makes me crazy too.. (a lot of things do, can you tell?) I've asked if the boxes can be moved, and I get, yeah, ok, sure, but there they sit. And then Sunday and the BRIGHT sun. Hold on to your horses, because this will tell you where I fit in the hierarchy of the family...

Star laid in her sun puddle but before too long the shadow of the boxes completely blocked it in any place she could get to. She sat next to the box, looked over at us and meowed. Greg asked her what was up. I looked over and said, oh, she can't get in the sun any more because of those darn boxes.

He got up, IMMEDIATELY, and moved the boxes so she had the full sun puddle! I guess we know who ranks around here, hmm?

Don't you know that cat's run on solar power? I'm charging up.

Star was in sun heaven! She rolled around in her sun puddle and acted like a kitten in it! She even, at one point, dragged a towel into the sun and laid on it. How I wish I'd gotten a picture of that, but by the time I got the camera out, she had moved again.

I don't know what it was all about, but she got as goofy as if she was on catnip! She started rubbing her head all over the box next to her. It was so silly and so cute, that I had to get a bunch of pictures of it!

Rub rub rub...

Scratchy rub rub..

Ah, bliss

Scooch scritch rub some more!

It was almost nice enough to have the door open. But because someone loves her door wiffies, it was opened for her for a little while. Can you say spoiled? But she's worth it!

Come a little closer, Mr Squirrel...

Thanks for the open door, daddy! I'll purr for you when I'm done here.

Hope you all had as good a weekend as Star did!

Now that you know the heirarchy, you can work it..

Honey, Star is really upset at the stinky garbage, could you take it out...

Honey, Star can't see the squirrels in the long grass, could you mow the lawn...

Honey, Star would really like a new dress to get cat hair on...

Star, darling, I will meet you at midnight--third box from the left. Leave that front door open, too--we can have a few nighttime whiffies. Perhaps there'll be a bat, or a vole or an owl! See you later ;-)
