The Glitter Grotto

When the tall cat tree cubby is not serving as the Leo Lounge, it is often the Glitter Grotto!

Glitter loves her grotto. She loves the tall perches too. Basically she loves that cat tree from top to bottom!

I see you out there, with that camera again. Can't a girl catch a nap?

Whoops. I apologized, told her to go ahead and sleep. So she stretched out and napped.

But of course, that was too cute to let go..

zzzzzzsawthatzzzzzzwillgetyoulaterzzzz

I'd worry, but she's a sweetheart, not a fighter!

The Leo Lounge

When Leo is in one of the tall cat tree's caves, we call it the Leo Lounge!

Well, I was trying to sleep, until that flashing started going off.. I think it's made me cross-eyed! Thanks mom..

Poor fella, every time he starts looking cute, that camera starts clicking away!

Leo is about back to 100% now! He's eating, drinking, littering, and jumping around playing with his sisters! What a relief!

Thank you all for your purrs, prayers and good thoughts!

I updated the Cozy Kitty FUNdraiser page with the new crocheted bed additions!

Sleepy Leo and Another Offer

Leo is recovering more every day. He's now fighting and running when it's medicine time, which I take as a good sign because he's no longer lethargic! He's snuggling and sleeping a lot still, also good for recovering from being sick, but I've seen him start to play too! And he gets quite excited when he sees his sisters start to romp and chase each other like he wants to get back in on the action, but maybe not quite yet..

When I'm not trying to give him that awful bubblegum flavored medicine, he's been quite clingy and cuddly with me. I tried to get a picture, but of course he was laying almost in my face.. But you can see that he's quite a peaceful sleeper, no more wheezing, and he's content to block his mommy from playing Farmville 2.

Thank you, all of you, for your continued support, purrs and prayers for my sweet boy. I'm just so happy that he's recovering so well as I was very worried. I'm so glad he wants to snooze on me that I don't even mind my crops dying.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hope you don't get tired of me posting about the FUNdraiser on every post. I know that some people only visit once in a while and I don't want them to miss out!
Winnie's Wish is in need of the donations you are sending, so I don't feel bad about continuing to post. The only thing more needed than funds is adoptions! So please, share our fundraiser, but also share the adoptable kitties!
http://celestialkitties.blogspot.com/2014/11/cozy-kitty-fundraiser-for-winnies-wish.html
A minimum donation of $20 US gets you a cozy kitty bed or sleeping mat with your choice of nip or vine or nothing sprinkled on it! Every bit above postage and a small materials cost goes directly to Winnie's wish! Depending on how the final postage and paypal cuts pan out, that's between a minimum of $12 to $15 a bed to the kitties!
I have been working a little bit on another bed project and I want to see what you all think. I found a pattern to crochet some adorable little kitty beds and have made a few up. If anyone is interested I would be more than glad to take special orders of whatever color bed you might like. I believe I can offer these at the same $20 US as the Cozy Kitty beds and of course every bit over cost would go to Winnie's Wish as well.
As they would be special ordered, it will take a bit more time to get them out as I will make them after they are requested.
Let me show you what they look like, and these three could go right now.
This one is a maroon-y red and blue bed. I can make any two colors you want. These are double layered and the bottom is the same as the sides. The sides are stuffed for a nice round bolster but the sides are not that high.
This already made up maroon and blue is a little smaller than the others because I made it first and was testing the size. It would be perfect for a kitten or two or maybe a small kitty.
The picture does not do this Bright Mix variegated color justice! My shiny black table kind of reflected and made the colors look a little odd.. I think it looks like taffy colors!
The side view here shows you how the sides are not very big. But it's more than a mat and I've seen beds with short sides that kitties love.
This color, also not done justice, is called Macaw after, I assume, the bright blue parrot. I think it's beautiful, but then I am partial to blue myself, lol!
See the far side where it looks shiny and darker? That's closer to the true color of this one.
Glitter is a large kitty, the daughter of a Main Coon looking kitty, and she sat in one of these beds. She mostly fit and if I'd let her, I think she could have curled into a ball inside it and fit for the most part, maybe not her tail since she doesn't wrap it when she sleeps but prefers to let it hang.
I did measure them, but forgot where I wrote it down! I know they are about as wide as the other beds, so maybe around 15/16 inches across?  I will measure again and update this later!
Anyway, if anyone is interested, please email me at anniclan AT aol DOT com.
Like I said, these three are ready to go, but I am basically offering them as special orders
to the color(s) of your choice! (think team colors maybe? Match a room?)
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Thank you again for caring about my sweet Leo!
Catching Up With Sir Moose-a-lot and Leo Update
I meant to write this post last night and post after midnight, but I fell asleep.. But that means that now Leo is back from his recheck at the regular vet and I can update you on him!
No fever! Yay! He's on the mend, but is still not 100%. He has to continue his antibiotic and eye ointment. He did put in drops and look into the eye to check for damage and there is none, thank goodness.
He did suggest one reason that Glitter only got sneezes and Cashmere kicked it so fast while Leo got so sick and it's hanging around... and it's my fault. The girls got their booster vaccines just before we got them. And I've let Leo's slide like a bad kitty mommy.. I'm terrible, I never think about it. And as long as he's healthy, I don't make appointments just for boosters and check ups. Bad mommy!
I've learned my lesson about booster vaccines. I hope you all learn from my mistake and don't have to go through this with your kitties! Apparently they are more important than I thought.
On to Moose!
Sir Moose-a-lot Roadkill Goodyear Thunderbottom is my mom's cat. Well, was my dad's big buddy and cuddle companion before the rotten cancer took him from us last year. Moose mourned, as we all have. I'm glad to report that he is back to his happy playful self now. He's even lost a little weight and I'm sure those who recall him from other Moose reports, that this is a good thing! He's still a huge cat, no doubt, but at least he's dropped a few ounces!
I took some pictures and video's on Thanksgiving when we were over there. Most of the pictures were too dark.. Well, so are the video's but I'm sharing them anyway!
Here's moose with his mousies
I like you best, little grey mousie. For the moment..
First very short video, Moose surrounded by toys.
None of my video's are very long, phone limitations..
In this one I had stuffed new nip inside that crocheted cat toy. He wanted it out of there!
And in the last one, I relented and gave him some nip on paper so he could eat it up.
Sir Moose-a-lot is doing well, as you can see! Happy boy with lots of toys! Now if I could just get the big lug to want to sit on my lap... Maybe he's got too many toys to be distracted by snuggles? ;)
Please don't forget about our Cozy Kitty FUNdraiser! Things have been quiet on the order front for a while.. Winnie's Wish is in need of green papers to keep going, so if you can help, please do. If you already have a kitty bed or are not interested, please consider sharing, tweeting, posting about the FUNdraiser so we can reach more people and hopefully get more needed donations for Winnie's Wish!
http://celestialkitties.blogspot.com/2014/11/cozy-kitty-fundraiser-for-winnies-wish.html
Our FUNdraiser this time is a soft flannel kitty bed or mat in the design of your choice for a minimum donation of $20! Everything above postage and a little for materials goes directly to helping the kitties of Winnie's Wish!
They are also in serious need of adoptions! Please consider sharing about one or more of the kitties too! You will find the adoptable kitties on the sidebar of Daily Dose.
Thank you!!
Leo and Opt to Adopt Blog Hop! Tibby Bean!
Thank you, everyone, for your comments and concern about Leo. He's doing better today, eating more, looking for attention again, and when he smelled nip while I was working on a cat bed for the FUNdraiser, he came over and demanded some! I'm thinking that's a good thing! His eye looks better too, I'm so glad he's improving!
Yesterday I said he see's his regular vet Wednesday, but that was wrong. He goes Thursday. Oh! And guess what? When the regular vet got the report from the emergency vet clinic, he called me to see how Leo was! I thought that was just great!  He wanted to make sure Leo was on an antibiotic and was going to let me come pick some up without an appointment but he already had one. Apparently he'd only gotten to the first ER vet report, not the second one where it says he went home with a bottle. He was glad because it sounded like he needed it. I told him Leo already had an appointment to see him later this week but that he was doing better. It's nice to have a vet who cares!
(this is an old picture of Leo, but it's what he's doing for the most part; lots of napping!)
Thanks for the well wishes, I needs 'um.
Today's hopeful Winnie's Wisher is Tibby Bean!
Tibby Bean has not been ready to look for a home until recently, and though she still has some issues, she sure would love someone to give her the attention she craves. She does give love nibbles or love bites. (My Star has done this, but I think Tibby Bean does it more) Tibby Bean would need a very understanding home. She is grouchy with other cats, but would probably live comfortably with her sister if you wanted two kitties. Are you the special home for Tibby Bean?
You can read more about Tibby Bean HERE. (That post features her sister too, but Circe has been adopted, yay! Lets work on a good home for Tibby Bean now too!)
And you can find more adoptable Winnie's Wishers on the sidebar of the Daily Dose Blog.
If you know of a great home for Tibby Bean, or any other Winnie's Wisher, please contact Chrystal at Daily Dose!
email at c3k@lazernetwireless.net
Remember to please share, tweet, post, and spread the word about Tibby Bean and all the other adoptables at Winnie's Wish! Even if you can't make room for a new kitty, perhaps someone you know can! Heck, ask your friends to share too, maybe one of their friends is the one!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Cozy Kitty FUNdraiser is still going strong! (As are all the other FUNdraisers shown on my sidebar!) so if you want a Cozy Kitty bed for the holidays or just because or even as a gift to a friend kitty, please check out the Cozy Kitty FUNdriaser page! Every donation helps Winnie's Wish!

Spread the word about the FUNdraiser too please? Every bit helps!

We Hate The Sickies!

Oh what a time we've had since the middle of last week...

It started with Glitter. She sneezed and sneezed and sneezed. But that was all so we just kept out eye on her and she seemed fine.

Then suddenly Cashmere came up with a goopy half closed eye and we ran her to the vet. At first he said antibiotics for at least three weeks, eye ointment and because they've all been having on and off ear issues, more drops for that. And they were all to get the ear drops.

Cashmere perked up within days and both girls ears looked great, finally. Leo's ears continued to look bad, but otherwise he was fine. We called the vet when it was time for an antibiotic refill and he said since she was doing so well, just one more bottle would do for her.

Friday Leo suddenly came down with a seriously goopy eye that hardly opened and you could see red behind the third eyelid! On top of that, he was wheezing and looking pretty lethargic. A call to the vet revealed that they would not be in until Monday.. Wonderful.

Well, it might not be the right thing to do, but we did have that antibiotic that Cashmere didn't seem to need.. so we gave it to him (and a few more doses to her, just to be sure). He perked up for a bit, thank goodness!

But by late Saturday night, he was sitting up with his mouth open, looking so tired but like he couldn't lay down. We said that's it, bundled him up and Greg ran him to the emergency vet. All we have at the moment, (hello twin 2!) is our smallish cloth kitty carrier.. A bit too small for a large active mancat. Luckily he was in no mood to fight and was put in with minimal fuss.

I sat home and worried and waited. I started wondering when was the last time I saw him get off the cat tree to use the litter. When did I last see him drink, or eat. I'm very good at worry..

Greg called after Leo's initial check by the tech. Greg said he was told Leo had a slight fever and could have pneumonia or an upper respiratory infection.

I was on speaker phone when the vet came in. And no offence to the tech or nurse or whoever, but 106.3 is NOT a slight fever! I hope they said that so as not to panic the 'parent' before the vet shows up.. I, however, do not find it comforting to have something downplayed only to learn later it's worse.

The vet said he needed fluids and antibiotics, and it would be good to keep him over night. Now, please don't think I'm unfeeling or don't have my baby's best interest at heart, but nearly $600 for an overnight stay was just too much for us. Especially after all of my recent, and on going, issues. Knowing that he'd already had the antibiotic shot and that they were going to give him fluids, I didn't see why he'd have to stay. If it's to keep an eye on him, I can do that myself at home. Not like I'm going anywhere and I know his moods and behaviors better than anyone else and can tell when or if he improves or gets worse.

They said that was fine, but take him to the vet tomorrow (Saturday). Uh oh, vet won't be in! So they said he could come back there for a free recheck within 24 hours. Whew! Home he came, and he proceeded to sleep sleep sleep. And of course I worried worried worried. When he was awake, he did seem like he was feeling a little better and his body didn't seem so hot any more.

We weren't waiting for the full 24 hours to pass before taking him back. Early evening we got out the cleaned carrier (still waiting for the return of the big plastic one, twin 2!) but this time Leo was not going in easily! A sign he was feeling better I hoped!

His fever was down to 103.4. Thank you to Spitty's mom for letting me know that a temp between 99.5 and 102.5 is normal, so that meant that he' only had a slight temperature. I had still been worried that I didn't think he was peeing, but he settled that by going in the cloth carrier while waiting for the vet! One more worry down!

He had another antibiotic injection and more fluids and then he came back home. He does seem much better now, but he's still a sick boy. He's sleeping a lot, but at least he's eating and drinking and using the litter box. He'll get to see our regular vet on Wednesday and hopefully he'll be all better by then!

Thank you to everyone for the purrs and prayers as I've been sharing this on facebook over the weekend. I know I probably should have posted about it here, but I was too worried to think about that, can you believe it?

A quick aside here.. Can I complain about the flavored antibiotics?? What cat in this world wants bubblegum flavored anything?!? Ok, I know this antibiotic is also used for babies and toddlers.. but let me tell you, drug companies, they don't like bubblegum flavor either! Any flavor you put in medicine they will hate, trust me! When I was a kid, most medicines were grape flavored. To this day I cannot stand grape anything. Just the thought of it makes me shudder! Honestly, I would think that enough vets use this antibiotic for the drug companies to make something more palatable to kitties, or even doggies. Vets, you need to start demanding it! Bubblegum flavor makes Leo drool...

That's all I have to say today. Thank you for indulging me. and thank you for your continued support!
Oh, and a huge thank you to those who have offered financial help for Leo's medical bills. We're ok right now but we appreciate so much the offers!

~~~~~~~~~~~
Someone who does need a little financial help is Winnie's Wish! Chrystal has taken in several new kitties recently and money is tight. New kitties means new vet bills, spays and neuters, not to mention more food and litter and cleaning supplies!
You can help in several ways. There's a wish list on amazon. There's the wonderful book Chrystal wrote, and if you already have it, remember it makes a great Christmas gift for your animal loving friends! Direct donations can be made straight to them through paypal. There are links to all of these near the top of sidebar on the Daily Dose page.
Another great way to help them AND get something for your kitties is by joining in on the Cozy Kitty FUNdraiser! Your kitties get a cozy bed and those kitties get needed funds!
