Surf & Turf FUNdraiser for Winnie's Wish!

Winnie's Wish is the private cat rescue shelter and sanctuary run by Chrystal of the Daily Dose blog. This is the wonderful rescue that my three kitties came from! Chrystal does her best to rescue any kitty that comes across her path. She gets them fixed, makes them healthy, gives them love, tames them if they need it (mine did, and boy are they the best lover kitties ever now!) and then tries to find great homes for them.

The third room of the cathouse is almost ready to be opened. This means she can immediately separate kitties who don't get along well, but it also means she can take in a few more kitties. She already has a lot of kitties looking for homes, and you know what that means? Expenses. Litter, food, vetting, vaccinations, cleaning materials, air conditioning, heating.. I'm sure you get the idea. These are costs that never seem to go down, right? That means it's time for another FUNdraiser!!

This time, we have the

This is a set of five toys! Two from land, two from sea, and one just for funsies!

For a minimum donation of just $18 (US) to Winnie's Wish, you get all five of these fun toys! Every bit of that money, aside from postage and a very small materials cost, goes directly to Winnie's Wish! This means that approximately $14 helps the kitties! The $18 is for the continental USA, postage is included.

Did You Hear a Camera?

All three of the kitties were in the door, sharing whiffies, enjoying the birdies and squirrels.

Then they heard the camera open...

By the time it was ready to take the picture, this is what I got.

Leo: Did you hear that camera?
Cashmere: You know I did, just keep walking..
Glitter: You can miss the birds if you want, but I'm not moving!  

Sigh, what does a cat-mom do when her babies know the sound of the camera opening?? And why can't they make a silent camera??

Special Card

Short post because I'm posting late!

Last weekend was Father's Day but it was also Greg's birthday! One of our nieces, Twin 2 (The Scared One, TSO) gave him a great card! I have to share it because all of my kitty friends will appreciate it!

Now, as sort of a TBT (Throw Back Thursday) even though it's not that long ago that I posted it, I'm posting Greg and one of his girls! Cashmere hugging her daddy!

I am pushing hard to get the FUNdraiser for Winnie's Wish up and running by this weekend as I had promised! I've had a last minute rework that has slowed me down, but it was necessary for a variety of reasons. I'm still hopeful that by Saturday at the latest it'll be up! (If I miss that, can we call Monday the end of this week? MOL!)

Um, Glitter, that's still not quite right..

What are you talking about? You didn't like me leaning on a hard table, you wanted me to us the new bed, so I'm using the new bed!

Ok, yes, you are using it, but it's meant for you to be on the top, not the side!

Glitter: Your wish is my command.. I am not over the top of the bed!

Leo: *munch munch* she's got ya there!

Not quite what I meant either, Glitter... I thought we'd worked out the problems with the new beddy?? Silly kitties!

I'm sure you notice the huge hunks of cardboard scratcher there? sigh, that's another story I have to update..

What's Wrong With This Picture?

Seriously? A nice soft comfy bed is RIGHT THERE and she leans on a hard cold table base..

I'm a cat. And a woman. I can be as contrary as I want and there's nothing you can do about it!

Ok, that's fine, Glitter, but it still doesn't make sense to me!

International Box Day

Today is International Box Day!!!

We've had some boxes around here recently, but none we could let kitties in. So I have some kitty on box pictures!


These are the boxes that the material for Twin 1's bridesmaid dresses came in. You may notice that there is another box on that box and that Cashmere is laying on a plastic bag (that contains ribbons for said dresses). Those are there to keep little Miss Chomps out of the big boxes!

I had SUCH a hard time keeping her from getting in there and chewing on the tulle I was using to poof out the dresses and make crinolines! She was obsessed! So was Glitter, but not as bad.. Even when I was sewing it, I had to make sure none was hanging off the table! And I had to carefully cut out around the holes they chewed in it!

When the boxes were left open, they would flip up the flaps and get in to chew tulle. We put that small heavy box on it to keep the flaps down, she would wedge her face in whatever space there was, grab some tulle, pull it up and chomp and chew until someone caught her! Put the bag over the opening and she laid on it, obviously irritated that she no longer had access to the tulle!

What is all this stuff doing on my chompy box? How am I supposed to get in there now?

 

 

You'd think they didn't trust me or something... I'm hurt.

Just in case that doesn't satisfy the rules for International Box Day, I found this picture of Leo in his first year here. Boxes were Star's favorite thing, but he got a chance once she got out.

VrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRrrrrrroom! I take the checkered flag! Whoo!!! All the cute girl cats are rushing the track to come give me head butts and ear lickies! Yeah!!!

Throw Back Thursday

I was playing with Da Bird with Leo, Glitter and Cashmere a little while ago and realized something. As a family, they have the same play trait. They are lazy players!

They will leap after Da Bird once or twice, then they roll themselves on the floor and wait for it to come close enough to grab! They will roll around like mad, and scoot across the floor, but they stay down. They are fierce.. well, the girls really are. Leo isn't quite as fierce, but he gets his licks in. I prefer to think of him as polite, when the girls start after the toy, he backs off so they can play. I make sure the toy finds him wherever he is though, and since the girls are on the ground, he has a clear shot!

So this morning when I was playing with my lazy players, I remembered a very fierce player. Star, no matter her age, even up to just before she crossed her bridge, was the fiercest player I've ever seen! She would leap and jump and claw and grab.. She never stopped. Well, she occasionally had to take a rest break after she turned 10 or 12.

I posted this series of her playing in November 2012. My girl was fierce!

Star, when she is ready to play, is so freaking wild that she's almost impossible to catch on the camera! I did, however, get a series of her playing with Da Bird in her daddy's chair. From the pictures, it looks like she ONLY played with it in that chair.. But she was seriously all over the room, from one side to the other, as long as the string would let it travel! She was moving so fast that the only time I could get a good picture of her, and not just where she HAD BEEN, was when she dived into the chair.

Star always attacks her toys with tooth and claw, which is why her mouth is open, she is NOT yawning..

To Bunk or Not To Bunk

Cashmere: So is this what they mean by bunk beds?

Glitter: Um.. not exactly.

 

 

Cashmere: But I have the bottom bed and you have the top bed, isn't that how bunk beds work?

Glitter: Sort of. But if you want the bottom bunk bed, you'd have to be in the blue ham-mick under the pink bed that I'm in because technically, I'm in two beds!

Cashmere: Um.. never mind, I don't need bunk beds any more.

Glitter: *giggle* Good idea, I think I'd find you a bit lumpy to sleep on anyway!

I noticed that Star's birthday/gotcha day was posted again today on the blogosphere.. I don't know how that happened. It was posted there on June 1st also, which was her real birthday/gotcha day. I hope she's having a giggle over the bridge for getting two days!
