Sleeping Stringies

Leo loves his stringie. He sleeps with his stringie. He plays with his stringie. He lives for his stringie.

Before I get to the pictures, I want to say something about the stringie. It's not a 'string' exactly. I know some people worry about cats with string, and you should! Cat Chat had a thing on their facebook today about it in fact. But Leo's stringie and the stringies included in the Winnie's Wish Toy set are not string. They are thick braided cord. Leo chews on his constantly and has yet to make any dent in it. He could not swallow it if he tried.
His old blue stringie, a cord from a hoodie, is a different story, it has been bitten in half a few times and tied back together. He still can't swallow it whole, but I watch it carefully for any bits that might fall off. I think I'm going to get rid of it before long because it's in such bad shape.

Back to Leo's love of his stringie! Last night he was sitting on the bed, contemplating the stringies. I thought he might attack them. But instead, he reached out and put a paw on the one. Then, he fell asleep. While holding it! What a silly boy!

Oh hello my old pal, blue stringie. I haven't seen you in a while.

Nice to see you..zzzzzzzzzzz

In case you don't think he's really sleeping in the second one, I have three other pictures of this, but they are identical to this one, except maybe more blurry. Bad cell phone camera... So honestly, he is sleeping like that, nose down, paw on stringie!

Blue stringie had been missing for a while. We found him under some blankets by the closet. No idea how it got there.

  5. You are right...those stringies are ok!! The photo I posted meant like thinner yarn, dental floss and thinner string that cats love and can swallow. The strings you are showing are thicker and if they are being supervised it is totally different! xoxoxo

  11. That's a good warning about string. My cats play with string, but I am always in attendance, and it goes into a drawer they can't get to when it's not in use. There's plenty of grabbing and biting of the string, but it I keep them from chewing it. So many things to watch out for with these little animals.

  18. We were a teeny bit concerned about the stringie until we got ours--it is a fat red cord with sizable knots at each end. No chance of a kitty swallowing--though a dog might be able to.

Yes, Mommy, Best not to let Star see today's photo. Besides, it was just an innocent little cuddle for the weary nurse XOXOXO
