Well, That Didn't Take Long..

We've had that post... just over a month. And see what's happened already?

Oh look here! Someone is returning to the scene of the crime...

Whatcha talkin' 'bout?

Are you looking smug, Mr. Leo?

Don't know what ya mean.. all I know is when someone says "scratching post" I take them at their word!

Well, I guess  you get what you pay for! Guess I'm going to have to cover that with some sisal rope, think it'll work?

  1. Wrapping it in sisal should work. The head peep uses hot glue to attach the sisal on our tree.

  2. Well at least you know they're using it! Mistletoe, Hitch and the Orange Twins say, Scratch On!

  3. We cannot see why covering it with sisal wouldn't work.

  4. Sisal is good but it does wear after a while and it shreds bits of sisal which get spread about. Mind you we must say we both attack our scratching posts with gusto and you might be less vicious with yours.

  5. Well gee.....isn't that what it's for????? We haven't had good luck with plain carpeting...sisal is much better.

  6. Oh good job, Star and Leo!

(and yes...sisal is a good alternative. I recovered a scratching post with sisal...just make sure to keep it nice and tight. ~Island Cats' mom)

  7. Oh I don't know, we destroy the ones with sisal ropes. It doesn't take us long at all. Good job Leo. Hope all of you have a great day.

  8. I have one with sisal ropes around it and it is at last coming apart, but it took six years - but my cats don't use that post all the time. I guess it depends on the amount of use and the strength of its use.

  9. We like the sisal. My mom has to replace it about every six to nine months, but it's much better than carpet, which we can shred in no time flat.

  11. You kitties are making sure that thing works, right?

  12. Leo SHOULD be proud of his work! Sisal would be sturdier - some kitties prefer it to carpet. But as you might have noticed in the comments above, it's not exactly indestructible!

  15. Dang, you kitties made quick work of that post! Yes, sisal rope should work. Or maybe some remnants from your local carpet store?

  19. Well, honestly: Isn't that what it's FOR? You need sturdier stuff though.

Star, I'll be over later to wash your earsies, okay? Sorry I have been kinda unreliable. This Human is just outta control, thinking she can do whatever she wants. As IF!

  20. If the post is wood, you could get a carpet remnant and use a staple gun or construction adhesive to attach it to the post. Just have to make sure the staples are long and go in all the way - you might have to give them a smack with a hammer. I'm not sure hot glue would hold the carpet on. Sisal would work too, but my kitties don't like sisal.

  21. Leo that looking good for some fiber art. Sisal is totally lets you go to town with the scratching and lasts a good amount of time.

  22. Well, sweet Star, I am a little early tonight -- maybe I will have to pop over later and get my update in person. What do you think? The Human had a long day and she says she wants to collapse in front of the teevee. Sigh. XOXOXO

  23. Yes, sisal rope is good. Wow, Leo is hard on his stuff. My tree was perfect after 3 years when we gave it away. Sigh. I'd love to have it back and so would Pop cos it was the only place I'd let him FURminate me.

  24. As soon as we saw the first picture, we all said "sisal rope time"!

  25. We were going to suggest some sisal. A kitty can really get his or her claws into that stuff. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
