Update on Sir Moose-a-lot's Daddy

Thank you all for your prayers and purrs for my dad, Moose's dad.
The surgery went well, they removed the part of the tumor that was inside the spine, I don't know why they left what was on the outside except that maybe it was wrapped around? I don't know. Anyway after the surgery they had to sedate him before we could find out if he could move his legs because he was flailing and trying to get the breathing tube out. Once he was asleep we all went home, exhausted.
Today he is awake, alert, the breathing tube is out and he's moving his legs! He can move his feet, but so far not his toes. There is still swelling on the surgery site, so hopefully as that goes down, he'll get the rest of his movement.

Gross alert, skip this paragraph if you want!

They found this tumor because he had a bowel blockage. When his legs collapsed they thought that the blockage was pressing on the same nerves as his pelvic cancer tumor. The x-ray for that showed the spine tumor. They put the blockage on the back burner to deal with the spine tumor because delaying that would mean not walking again. So today they are working on the blockage. This spine tumor must have stopped the bowels from moving, there were no sounds or anything. Today there are sounds and things are starting to move, so yay! (who'd ever think bowels would be something to yay over?)

Again, I appreciate all the prayers and purrs! Please keep them going that he can move his toes and walk soon! Love you all!!

I need my favorite lap back. Get better soon daddy!

Thank you for the purrs!

  13. We didn't know that your Daddy was having a rough time of it until today. So we dropped by to send him lots of rumbly purrs to help him get over that surgery. We are so happy that he can move his legs and his insides are gurgling again. We hope his recovery goes well and he is home again so Moose can sit on his lap, purring helps recovery!

Thank you so much for the kind words you left for us on the loss of our little Gerry. It means so much to us.

  22. Star, Fank you for stopping by earlier. You are being SUCH a good girl, sharing your Mommy with Leo wifout snarling and hissing. I think she probably needs both of you, my sweet, and I am sure she appreciates the sacrifice on your part in allowing the Barbarian to be so close to you. Actually, though, if you'd like a little break from him, feel free to drop over anytime--there's always room for you at Chez Spit-tay XOXOXO
