Brief Bit of Spring

Just one day really.. and it's already getting colder again, but we did have a little bit of warm! Enough that the kitties could get some open door time!

Now, this is not as good as yesterday, but they are again being all peaceful in semi-close proximity to each other!

Star is on the footstool and Leo is in the chair closer to the door. At first he was too nervous about Star to get down and get up close to the door.

Leo: Oh boy! Look at the leaves blowing around in the wind!
Star: I'm keeping my eye out for that ebil squirrel who tormented me all last summer..

Leo: Oh! What was that!
Star: Another leaf...

Leo finally got bold, or just too excited, and got down to get a closer look.

Leo: Ok, that was a leaf, but it was moving quick!
Star: ...

Leo: Ohmygosh! There goes the squirrel!
Star: Watch out, if he comes up to the door, I'm gonna run right over there to give him what for.

Leo: I think he heard you, he went the other way!
Star: Smart little tree-rat.

Leo left to check other windows and Star finally came up to check on her Nemesis.

Star: I know you're out there, squirrel, and I will get you one of these days. You have my word.

Finally, Star took to her favorite door watching spot. Can you see her?

Star: I'm watching, always watching..

That is where she always sits. The footstool isn't always there, but she likes to sit on the very edge of the carpet and look out. You might think it's because that flooring is cold, but it's not. I want to put it in the kitchen and bathrooms because it's warmer on the barefoot than regular tile or linoleum. I don't remember what it's called though.. but I love it.

We're hoping for a REAL warm up soon and not this pretend one followed by more cold.. Spring, where are you??!!

We loved the pictures telling the story of Star and Leo today - they are very wary of each other still. The weather forecast said it was warm here today too but Mum has two sweaters on and a thick long cardigan!!

Hooray for whiffies! We have warm not, but our whiffies are so limited due to Gracie's asthma, but that's okay.

If you have peaceful coexistence most of the time, it's pretty good. Didn't have much of that when Annie was still alive.

It's still too chilly here for open doors, but of course the boys can go out into the back space. It was about +4C (39F) and it felt wonderful! (Pretty sad, huh, when 39F feels warm.)

Nice weather even makes the worse enemies get along! :)

Every day a little closer, slow and steady wins the race. Hopefully they'll settle down and decide they enjoy each other's company.

If you find spring, can you send some of it my way too?

We think Star is so funny staying at a "safe" distance from the door most of the time. Hope you are now getting more warmer days. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
