Where's It All Go? And a Peek!

Looks like toys are starting to arrive to people! That’s so exciting! The FUN FUN FUNdraiser is going pretty well! I want to put a real face on what we’re doing, so I’m going to show you where the money is going. To that end, I asked Chrystal to give me a little list of some of her expenses.

As you may know, her daughter is a vet so she is able to give injections which Chrystal buys in bulk. (This woman knows how to pinch every penny til it screams!) This saves office visit fees as well as procedure fees.

Each kitten needs a series of three shots. Each shot costs $5, that means it’s $15 a kitten. Coincidentally, that’s the minimum requested donation for a Winnie’s Wish Toy Set!

Adult kitties need an annual shot which is also $5 a piece. That means each minimum donation is three adult shots!

By law, they cannot give the rabies shot. Therefore when a kitty get’s adopted, they have to have a vet office visit for the rabies shot and health certificate. That’s a bigger fee than doing the regular shots.

(Spitty, cover your ears) Every cat needs to be altered. Males are $35, that’s a little over two minimum donations, females are $60, that’s four minimum donations. Chrystal just had five male kittens done. She found a place that would do them for five dollars less a kitten, but she had to drive and drive and drive to get there. With the five, she probably saved a little, even with the extra gas, but one at a time, this place might not work. So that was $150, ten donations! Wow!

Kitties gotta go, and that means litter. Chrystal says she spends exactly $16 on litter for the cathouse ever week. That is a lot of scooping! One donation, just about one week!

What comes out must go in.. Uh, or something like that.. Chrystal was unsure when I asked what exactly she pays but says she feels like she’s always buying cat and dog food. (Dog food because she’s usually got a foster or two around. If you read her Tuesday post, she’s got a pregnant female at the moment and also Gandy.) I’m sure you can imagine the amount of food the cathouse goes through!

There are other expenses that I don’t have numbers for, but things like de-worming kittens, de-fleaing ferals, medicating sick ones, and things like that pop up at odd times I’m sure.

So now that you see where your donations go, lets see what one household of kitties think of the toys they got in exchange for their donation!

You may have seen a commenter named Mell, she got her toys this week and her kitties loved them. She has a kitty named Evinrude! Do you remember when I was talking about my previous kitties? I had an Evenrude! Both named after outboard motors, (her's probably spelled right!), both purr like what they're named after! What a coincidence! Her Evinrude is a feather boy like Leo and apparently a niphead as well!

Here's what she had to say:

TC, Evinrude, Mickey & Toodles all pooled their allowances for the kitties. Well, Evinrude just wants the feathers, but he's just that way. ;-)

Here's what her kitties had to say:

Mommy says we can have some toys! You can send them to her, she promised she would turn them over the minute they arrive!
Thank you for thinking of the kitties! We was all homeless and feral once, too, so we like to help the other homeless ferals...and we like to gets lots of toys even more!

Then after they got them Mell posted this comment:

Ours arrived today! I opened the package (with LOTS of help), and ohmygoodness! 15 paws up! (Would be 16, but Toodles only has 3).

I went to grab my camera, but the batteries were dead, and I missed the best pics before I could reload. Mickey and Toodles are really camera shy, so at the first sign of a flash, they were outta here...but I got a couple of good ones of Evinrude. He grabbed the two small pillows and carried them out to the garage, where he could nip out in peace! lol

I'll email the Evinrude pics to you.

Thank you so much! They loved the toys!

Mell

She emailed me some pictures!

These are the only decent pics I got of the toys - of course, it was Evinrude (my little nip head and show-off) that showed up best.
They all seemed to like the heart-shaped toy the best...it is positively soggy! LOL

Later she sent me pictuers of her other kitties as she got them with the toys!

I snapped a couple of Toodles (my 3-legged little old lady brat cat). She was out on the patio with the feather toy, and she's pretty camera shy, so they are not the greatest pics (black cat...sunny day...through the sliding door...lol), but as you can see, she is enjoying the toy. I also just missed her bunny-kicking the living daylights out of it. ;-)

Mickey taking his turn!

Apparently TC had no intentions of being caught on camera enjoying the toys!
Thank you for sharing Mell! Your kitties are awesome!

If you are interested in a fabulous set of Winnie's Wish Toys, you're in luck! You can get a set of five toys for just a minimum donation of $15 US!! Go here for details!

This is a wonderful fundraiser and such a nice way of helping a friend make a difference. xo

We made a donation, but would like you to do what you did for Brian and please give the toys to one of the kitties when they are adopted as a going away gift.

It is amazing how quickly it can all add up to run a rescue. I hope you raise bunches and bunches of green papers!

Kito, Sasha, Jasper, and Soapy all loved their toys as well. They're quite happy they donated their allowances to help the kitties. Especially Soapy & Jasper since Miss Chrystal was their first "momma" :D
