Cheezy!

When I open certain types of packages, Star thinks it's a treat and comes over, gets all nosey, and then leaves in a huff when it turns out to be something she has no interest in. If I don't let her see what the thing is, she will bug and bug, thinking I'm keeping something from her, so I'll usually give her a sniff so she knows it's nothing special.

At dinner last night I opened a package of sliced salad nuts and she ran over. It's the same kind of package Temptations come in, so I understood her curiosity. I gave her a sniff and she left. Later I was opening a container of shaved Parmesan cheese, just a little tub, but it drew her attention again. I had to laugh, this is not the kind of package any snacks or kitty food comes in.

But I decided to let her have a sniff anyway. I took out one of the shaved pieces and held it up, "Look, it's just stinky cheese, nothing you want," I said. Obviously I was lying... She stole that puppy out of my fingers before I knew what she was up to!

Well that was a fluke! I thought. So I showed her another piece.. Dang if she didn't snatch that one out of my fingers too! Cheese? Seriously? Parmesan cheese? Seriously? Oh she was serious alright!

It occurred to me that their new favorite food is anything with cheese in it. But that's probably not even real cheese... probably some processed whatever. They love it! No turned up noses at all.

Parmesan though? That's a whole different kettle of fish, so to speak. I may have set a dangerous precedence. Next think you know, she'll be after my asiago!

I have better taste than you give me credit for. Seriously.

Today's hint for the day after Leo's birthday?? Here you go.
I wonder if that one is too easy.... :)

Parmesan is one of those things 'they' say to put on food to help kitties transition.. My crew likes every cheese product I've ever offered them.

It had never ever ever occurred to me to offer cheese to any of my cats until the day my sister mentioned that her cats get the occasional piece of cheese as a treat. So the next time I was slicing mozzarella to have with my cherry tomatoes (yum!), I offered Spanky the tiniest little sliver. Now, every time I walk into the kitchen, he shows up with hopeful eyes and says "Did someone say CHEESE?!" :)

My dearest darling Star, Thank you soooo much for coming over last night. The Nip brandy really hit the spot, and the ice!! The ice was heavenly. Thanks for knowing JUST what I needed. Yesterday was a Bad Bad Day, but today has been a little better (I emerge regularly from UTB to see what's up, get some brushies, have some snacks, and do my Business (which I have to say is not much fun today). I think by the weekend I'll be myself again. I can feel my mojo creeping back even as I write XOXOXOXO

Oh yes, a couple of my cats love cheese. One is Tucker, who loves all food, so perhaps that doesn't count. But still...
