Black Cat Appreciation Day

A lot of good ideas for remembering past kitty days! Flashback Friday, already established, would work. Memories on Monday would be nice. Way Back Wednesday, cute. Anyday, that works. Because seriously, who has had enough cats to fill up every week, right? Well, if I could remember all their names... I had TONS of cats while I was growing up.. none fixed. I have to say, I seriously love Days In The Sun. Because it doesn't have to tie to a day of the week, and because, as Bellen from I Have Three Cats says "I think "Days in the Sun" would be a good title for cat reminiscences. It seems incongruous but it comes from the song "Memory", which in turn is from..."Cats". Days in the sun is a wistful and sadly happy phrase, I think."

I think I'm going to use that one when I tell the next kitty's story. Thank you all for the input.

If you've been over to Daily Dose today, you would have seen that it is Black Cat Appreciation Day. I should have saved Calvin's story! I could share Evenrude's, but that's short and I kind of told most of it yesterday along with Sheldon's. Those were my two black kitties. Loving, sweet, adorable kitties.

Black kitties have a hard time getting adopted, not only because of their color, but also because they are hard to see. Especially if they are sitting in the back of a cage, as shelter kitties often do. They often don't photograph well, which makes on line adoptions difficult. But black kitties are just as wonderful, just a as sweet, just as loving, just as perfect as any other color kitty.

Speaking of black cats... there are a few up for adoption over at Daily Dose. They could sure use a forever home. Just sayin'..

Speaking of black cats. My niece, not the live in, the twin, has a black cat. Yesterday she left to Wyoming to work at the same place as her sister. So now both of them are gone, little brats.. But back to the kitty! Her name is Middy, and she's a cute little black kitten. Hmm, she must be getting close to a year old now as I believe my niece got her last summer. Still, that's kitten enough!

I have a few pictures of her. Which point out the difficulty in photographing black cats.. or my nieces difficulty in taking non-blurry photos? hee hee

King Spitty's human seems to take some great black cat pictures, so does Kip's mom Cat. I'll have to ask them how they did that. I'm betting they both have better camera's than my nieces phone though..

Anyway, happy Black Cat Appreciation Day!

Don't forget, something special coming up on Leo's birthday... :)

we would like to blame the camera, but around here it might be user error as well. Mo looks a lot like a black blob most of the time.

Black kitties are tough to photograph. Even tortoiseshells. I think they need a LOT of lighting...natural light, if at all possible. Taking photos of Tutu has been really challenging. I usually get dark blobs...LOL.
We love how beautiful the eyes of a black cat stand out.

It is very hard to photograph a black (or black and white) kitty. Good lightening is important, and a patient cat. :)

My human's dad has a beautiful black kitty and my human has taken some nice photos of her - but it does take a little knowhow and a halfway decent camera.

Why fank U for the compliment says the Human but she thinks she's just amateur hour compared to Ernie's mom and William's mom and lots of others she can only dream about being as good as someday! (Yes she knows how ungrammatical the previous sentence is but it's Friday night and she's tired and she seems not to care if she embarrasses herself!) She has a cheap little Nikon Coolpix but once in awhile she gets lucky ;-)

His Star.....XOXOXOX
