Exciting Weekend

Before I start, I have to say a big Happy Birthday to my OLDER sister! That was Monday, but we were so busy that I never got a post up, but the sentiment is the same!

We had an exciting weekend, or at least moments of excitement among super busyness.

First up, and I wish wish wish I had pictures of it, but it happened so fast... Niece 1, who lives with us got promoted and was super excited, who can blame her! When Greg came home from work on Saturday, she was upstairs. Leo was sleeping on the Royal Footstool and Star had wandered out to see if she felt like saying hi to her daddy.

Star was sitting on the floor at the corner of the couch furthest from the door and stairs. I think she had just decided that she was going to allow daddy to greet her and pet her royal head when all heck broke loose! By heck, I mean niece 1.

Realizing that Greg was home and hadn’t heard her news yet, she THUNDERED down the stairs and squealed out her excited news. The thundering scared the bejezzus outta Leo and he LEAPED straight up off the Royal Footstool and LANDED right on a VERY started anyway, Star!

Leo was gone in a flash, I’m not even sure he realized he landed on Star. Star looked like bombs were going off around her and she didn’t know which way to run for cover! She was in that defensive crouched down, claws gripping the carpet, head swiveling back and forth looking for escape mode with the hugest eyes! She finally went in the same direction as Leo, who, I swear this is true, never touched the ground after bouncing off of Star!

Leo was gone for over an hour, Star came back in a few minutes but was wary until she saw that niece 1 also left a bag in the livingroom for her to snoop and sniff through.

And then, Sunday night, ok, early Monday morning.. Leo decided it was time for a drink. Does he go to his dish downstairs? Of course not. Does he go to the special glass on the counter in the bathroom upstairs? Of course not. Does he go to my bedside table and the glass I have there? You betcha! Unfortunatly I had it covered with a tissue to keep the ceiling fan from blowing on it and melting my ice too fast.

Let me state, for the record, that Star knows exactly how to get into water thus protected. She uses her nose to nudge up on the edges of the tissue until it slides off the glass or I notice and move it for her. (Yeah, I know, but she’s going to do it anyway, so I may as well make it easier..)

Leo does not know this trick. And that became VERY apparent when he grabbed the top of the glass, probably trying to tug the tissue off or ram his paw through it and in the process spilling the ENTIRE HUGE GLASS OF ICE COLD WATER into the BED! On ME! Did I mention it was the middle of the night??

That got me up, and I, in turn, woke Greg up with my flipping out about the ice water all over me! Leo calmly waited for us to clean up the water from the bed and the bedside table drawer where he got my Garfield book wet! Then he waited for a fresh glass of water to show up with fresh ice. Then he got his drink.. I’m soooo glad he’s so patient... Did it matter that we had to be up and out of the house early? That didn’t bother him at all, as long as he got his drink. sigh

Oh!! And today, on Chrystal’s blog, Daily Dose of Dogs (AKA Cats With Your Coffee), she posted the story of Star’s brick! She sold bricks for the Winnie’s Wish Walkway as a fund raiser for her private rescue and Leo got his in the first round. Star got one this time and we’re excited to see her story there! Please please please head over there! Not only to read about Star’s brick, but to look over the sweet sweet kitties waiting for a home! If you absolutely can’t make room for one (and you know you want to!) then please, think of everyone you know and how much a rescued kitty would be great for them! She can get kitties anywhere! After all, Leo came from there and it was no hassle at all getting him so far away! Go check out his sisters and the rest of the cathouse kitties!

Aside from all that excitement, we had such a busy weekend! I’m glad it’s over, I need a rest!

I’ve got lots of exciting playing pictures to share this week but in honor of being worn out, sleepy pictures!

Look! Star turned in the other direction, MOL

Leo guards the pink feather as he sleeps!

Awww, such sweet kitties! It sounds like you all had some great adventures and excitement this weekend! It would have been great to have a video of Leo landing on Star....hehe, poor kitty.

We'll definitely check out the kitties for adoption and share with our friends. Unfortunately, we can't take another kitty, although I DO want to very much. But we'll do what we can to spread the word and find the kitties great forever homes; every kitty deserves a loving forever home!! :)

Wow, that sounds like our house if something makes a huge noise. Everyone is airborne until out of the room. It is like elephants galloping through the house.
And Happy Birthday to the sister. Take care and have a great evening.

Holy Moly kitties, those were lots of chain reactions for sure! That is wonderful about Star's brick! We are just now connecting the dots and realize that your Leo was the Leo the Chinese Lion (we think he may have been called that?) from Chrystal's, how special!

It does sound like an exciting weekend. It gives me a good reason not to have water near me. I have no idea how my cats would behave with a glass on the nightstand - and I'm not about to find out.

By the way, I forgot to congratulate you on your Versatile Blogger Award. All I did was write about you giving it to me! I'm learning too much from my cats: it's all about me me me! You certainly do deserve the consideration of such an award. Well done!
